*I am not sponsored or paid to discuss the Powerspark distributors, this is my review of the product that they sell.*
Part 2 of 2
In this video I continue comparing a used Lucas 25D distributor to a new Powerspark 25D distributor.
I measure both advance curves with a degree wheel and then measure how the springs control the advance curve with my distributor machine.

Great video. It makes a massive difference to the running of car if your dizzy sorted. I would love to see a video on how you correct an original dizzy and a power spark one. Watching from Nz

I have a powerspark unit to recurve this week and will try to get some footage along the way. Thanks for watching

So would the Powersport be more appropriate for say a 998cc?

Whats appropriate is what fits into the block. A series can have the 25D or 45D. A+ has 59D or 65D. The powerspark units are appropriate for all engines. I recurve them to suit the application.

@@darrensrestorations991 i think the point to be made is the curve needs to suit the application ie cam profile and compression ratio and any applicable emission regs

Thanks for continuing to watch my channel. I do have an original Lucas 45D restoration video coming after the red mini series is finished.

Thanks, that was very informative. The remaining challenge is now “how to pick an appropriate target curve when the engine is not 100% stock, and to better reflect modern fuels”.

@@ah1472-u5h Any change to improve an engine will change its ignition requirements. However there is a limit in that air and fuel can only fill the cylinders so quickly. For a truly perfect timing curve, you must test how much advance an engine can take at various rpm points.

@@darrensrestorations991 How much would a tuner charge to find the optimum timing curve for a particular engine and also , included in the cost of setting up the dizzy timing to match please ? I would assume a dynamometer would be involved , or could an exhaust sensor system be relied on to get the spark timing close enough ? Cheers and I subbed as your video really impressed me and taught me stuff .
