Thanks for this. I found and followed your channel for homeschool inspiration. But I really like and appreciate the health + fitness content too. It’s important to me that I’m healthy and strong for me - and for the example it sets for my kids.

“Consistency wins every time.” Yes!! 🙌🏻 in every aspect of life. I’ve seen this SO much with both fitness and diet...work hard, lose a few pounds, then get lazy and it all comes back on again. Your advice is always so helpful, Ashlee!

Love this video! Let’s me know that what I’m doing will be affective long term. My strategy that has helped me is writing numbers 0-66 on posted notes and each time I complete a workout I take off the top note! It has been very motivating to see the numbers grow. I’ve always wanted to work on making a workout a habit more than anything. I’m 15 weeks pregnant with baby #3 and I’ve never worked out throughout a pregnancy before, but now it feels feasible. I’m on posted note 60! I can’t wait to make it to 66 this week then start a new goal to 100 :)

Ashlee, Thank you for sharing your knowledge about fitness! I’m at the gym watching and smiling because your advice is spot on! As a homeschooling mom entering menopause with osteoarthritis, fitness is vital to my health. I’ve always been active but this season of my life has been hard on my body. Because I can get easily fatigued, exercise has played a crucial role in managing my emotional/chemical levels. My biggest struggle is losing weight. My body is getting toned but my midsection is still very bloated. But I keep telling myself “just show up, keep going, and don’t quit”! When I was younger, my body changed quickly, now the results happen slowly, but I’m grateful that God has given me a strong body and I’m seeking to be a faithful steward. Please keep sharing your knowledge! With so many mixed and confusing information out here about wellness, it’s refreshing and encouraging to receive sound advice. Blessings your way!

Yes!! I have recently started my fitness journey and I really appreciate you pointing this out. I started feeling a little down on myself about my workouts not being extremely intense but I have noticed that the consistency has allowed me to push myself a little bit further each time. Love the encouragement!☺️

I completely agree! This exactly how I have achieved my health and fitness goals, until I started listening to others who I were education on the subject, but as it turns out not so much! It left me burnt out and with a knee and ankle injury which led to a hip injury. So even those who are trained and have a degree may not be looking out for your best interest or the goals you have in mind. Truly we have to be our own advocate and educate ourselves as well as finding someone who is trained professional and has experience in the areas of your goals. I can't tell you the countless number of professional that have told me you don't have to count calories to lose weight or maintain as long as your eating healthy whole food and being active. For me that didn't work, my brain needs to measures and count so I don't eat too much, because lets face it eating too much of healthy food can still make you gain weight period, it just a fact. Due to all my injuries and going from heavy intense workouts to none for a good while then, just here and there then trying to go back to what works for me. I'm at a place where my body and capabilities are completely different and can't find my sweet spot for calorie deficit. I'm 5'1 and 140-145 pounds. So basically I need to eat around 1200ish a day to a pound a week, which to me is just crazy low, and I can't be active right now. Anyways, this is just my experience and how this worked out for me.

LOVE this!!! My biggest fault (as you know) in the past is going balls to the walls crazy right out of the gate and then losing momentum. I've definitely had more success making SMALL changes and sticking with that for a while until I'm comfortable enough to make another small change. Consistency is the most important and hardest part of fitness/weight loss in my opinion. Love how you broke all of this down, friend! :)

You see the Intensity around New Year’s Resolution season. It’s the WORSE time to go to the gym. Luckily, people quit after a few weeks and we have peace ✌️ again🙂

This is so insightful! I’ve recently come across the quote “We tend to forget that baby steps still move us forward” and I feel like it’s so relevant to this topic too. Definitely need to work on my consistency! Would love to see more fitness videos you feel comfortable sharing!

I needed this message today. Over the past year, I lost 80 pounds with my surgeon, my psychologist and my nutritionist. I know I should be exercising, but haven't been. I'm a lot thinner, but I know I could look and feel better with exercise. I know how, but I just don't like to exercise. I always love your enthusiasm, so I'm hoping that rubs off on me. LOL I've recently become more organized than ever in the past 15 years of homeschooling. All I need to do is add exercise to my online homeschool planner. I'm thinking two days a week is a great place to start and go from there. It's time! As soon as I leave this page, I'm going to my planner. Thanks!

Consistency is key. I am working on that a lot right now with everything. Thank you for sharing! Any tips on workouts to avoid or do consistently with a diastases recti? Are daily walks enough when you can’t get to harder/intensity workouts? Thanks!!
@GraceandGrit
@GraceandGrit 6 лет назад
Moments+Peace depending on the severity you can definitely do more than walks:) things to avoid are crunching movements and extremely heavy weights. Other than that go for it!

Hi. I started swimming last weak. My kids are swimmers for the PR federation so im using my time to get fit. I dont need to loss weight but my goal is to tone my butt, arms thighs and stomach. What should I do? Besides swimming I was told I sould lift weights or other things. I am nit interested really in walking and running, swimming is really helping cardio wise. What do you think?
@mamabenzing5872

I really need to work on this. Homeschool mama of 11, I haven't been consistent. My youngest is 7 months today and I still need to lose 40lbs! She doesn't sleep through the night yet (mine normally don't till they're around 1). I try to get up a little earlier than the kids to workout but I get so tired just a few hours later. I keep hearing if you workout you'll get more energy but that's not my case.
@GraceandGrit
@GraceandGrit 6 лет назад
Amanda Benzing I suggest focusing on the food life first. 90% of weight loss is from food. And you don’t have to wake any earlier to make better food choices ❤️

Grace and Grit I am piggy backing on Amanda’s comment because I am in a similar boat. I am a homeschooler if 5 with a 5 month old. How do I change my diet while nursing a baby? I have been researching keto. Do you recommend that way of eating and if so how do you ease in?
@creeksidehomeschoolers
@creeksidehomeschoolers 6 лет назад
Grace and Grit, Absolutely agree with this statement! Well said.
@creeksidehomeschoolers
@creeksidehomeschoolers 6 лет назад
Kimberlee Jay, hi I'm not the Ashley your asking, but while your nursing I would not recommend cutting out healthy carbs like sweet potatoes, quinoa, brown rice, oats, etc. Your adrenals really need healthy carbs. But you can for sure cut out sugar and refined flours and starchy foods like white beads, (go with sprouted instead), white rice and of course candy and most thing that come in a box! When I was nursing my boys I talked with a lactation consultant and for my body to produce enough healthy breastmilk I needed to eat at least 1700 calories a day and if I added in a workout I add anywhere from 200-400 extra calories that day! For me counting calories holds me accountable for every choice I make with food and keeps me on track even when I want a "cheat" food. By counting calories I eat less "cheat" foods and a lot smaller positions when I did eat them. If I were you. I would be very careful and really educate yourself about foods and talk with a nutritionist about changing calories while nursing. Producing the healthy nutritious breastmilk is far more important than losing weight. Some women even hold on to their weight until after the baby is winged off of nursing. In my case I was literally like a jersey cow, packed on the weight while pregnant and off it came while nursing and then grained back 5 when they winged off. Here are some numbers just in case your brain works like mine. I am 5'1 and was 135 pounds when at got pregnant then gained 50-60 pounds then in about 5-8 months I was 113 pounds. Since I'm a shorty that was really perfect for me, my ideal size and was completely happy with myself. But when I stopped nursing I went 118, which was ok, my husband felt I was too small and honestly prefers me a bit bigger. I have no idea if this is helpful or even worth reading, but that been my experience. Thanks for reading, God bless!

Creekside Homeschoolers thanx for your comment it does make sense i only have two kids but I seemed to lose weight after breastfeeding. And Was so worried about my milk supply I eat a lot while breastfeeding my second. Well she’s 2.5 and I’m tryn so hard to lose the xtra 20 lbs. she’s still breastfeeding. Hoping to lose an xtra 5 lbs when she completely is off breastmilk. I will be following Ashleys suggestions and just be very consistent with a small workout routine than keep adding on.

Hi Ashlee. I have Hashimotos disease. It is very hard for me to lose weight. I am 5'4 currently doing 1,500 sometimes up to 1,700. I exercise 3-5 times a week. I do zumba, etc. I can't seem to go down. Any advice? What are your services like online?

Is there a way to lose weight safely while breastfeeding? My baby is 5 months and I have about 30lbs to lose, but I don’t want to disrupt the milk process and cause problems
@GraceandGrit
@GraceandGrit 6 лет назад
Alyssa Brant definitely! But every mama is different. So I say clean up the diet before reducing calories. Meaning no sugar, more green veggies, more protein and see what happens after 4 weeks of that:)
