Ive played through all of Secret Of Mana and Dust: An Elysian Tail on iPhone. Dust in particularly was ported to mobile extremely well and was fun to play.
Too bad that the mobile port of the Phoenix trilogy is the literal worst versions of those games. Thankfully the other games survived a lot better but yikes Capcom just doesn't have a great track record when it comes to mobile.
@@pokemaster123ism A lot of missing frames in character animations, bad sound quality, an entire character theme is just missing from two of the games, an odd amount of new spelling mistakes, etc. The art was really rough but thankfully all of those issues have been fixed in the new port that just came out on modern platforms but the mobile port of the trilogy is notoriously criticized and frowned upon by the AA community as a whole.
No joke, Devil May Cry 4: Refrain was delisted soon after this video released. I guess capcom just forgot the game existed and quickly took it down when they were reminded.
And i'm glad, it has the power to emulate wii games, so imagine what the games written for mobile could accomplish. Controllers have gotten more portable and cheaper too. Why spend 300 on a switch when you can spend 30 on a controller.
@@darkerfox6246 the day we can emulate PS3, Xbox 360, and up to Nintendo Switch games (hopefully phones will have enough storage by then for all those games), that's the day I'll sell my entire console collection.
The theory is they ported over Java Based mobile ports of the games that were made for Cellphones. The did have a decent port of MM2 that ran smooth but not perfect before this current batch was released, but they delisted that one
this is why purchasable lootboxes in any game, even if it’s for cosmetics like in overwatch, is bad. they use the same tactics to get you to dump money into it as mobile games are notorious for
They do this because you are more likely to spend fake money because human brains tend to not treat it as real momey even though gems/tickets/whatevers cost real money.
Yeah pretty much. they also do the “if you buy more of this Funny Money at once you get 10% extra it’s a great deal!” because then not only does it make you think “oh I should buy more than the lowest tier then cause then I get extra” but also it means when you look at an item in the game you think “does this item actually cost $5, or is it just $4 because of the possible deals I can get” and the extra ambiguity there tricks ur brain more
Pay a little money and buy Stardew Valley for iOS or android! It's one of the best mobile games ever made and I was pleasantly surprised at how good the controls are!
@@MadWatcher yeah IPhone emulation is pretty trash, not the kind of phone you'd want to use in that regard. Mostly because of how hard it is to use none verified apps. Android is definitely the way to go if you want emulation on the phone. Though still is my last choice for emulation, but in a pinch of boredom it works well enough. Though most good Android devices can barely emulate PS2 yet, but Gamecube and lower work pretty excellent. N64 games are still a crap shoot Though, but guess those were always a bitch to emulate.
@@lowqualityvideos8091 emulation on the phone is what I always use to argue against people that say gaming on phones isn't true gaming lol. Though in a way I'm glad a large majority of people aren't savy to emulation on phones, free roms are increasingly harder to get already. If everyone did it, all the rom sights would be shutdown.
@@notme1282 no denying that, but on the phone it's pretty decent, though the PS2 emulation is still pretty awful, Gamecube runs pretty flawlessly. Anything older have 0 problems emulating unless it's a bad rom or iso. Sadly I'm in the boat where my Phone is better than my potato PC, but PC definitely has thr benefit of emulating more modern games and being able to pretty much visually upgrade older games more.
I remember playing Mirror’s Edge on my dad’s iPad all the time when it came out. In fact, that was the only Mirror’s Edge game I had ever played or even heard of, so you can imagine how shocked I was when I first saw how different the mobile game was to the real thing.
You can play game boy and game boy color emulators on a ti-84 plus ce I have that calculator, but not emulators. Idrc tho, i prefer using the oem to play these games... unless its an nes, snes, master system, or turbo grafix. Then i would just crack open the wii u virtual console.
@@mariomason95 Yeah this Apple stuff is a turn off. I'm pretty new to this channel, but one of the last videos I watched he was complaining about PC games not working well/at all on his Mac. No shit. He's coming across real casual with the Apple devices and console focus.
@@TheSefirosu200x They are more than capable of emulating everything up to GameCube and 3DS perfectly. I'm pretty sure that there is a phone capable of emulating Wii.
Even on android some of the apps just don't work. At least a good chunk of them work anyway. Even if an equivalent to apks were to come to iPhones, 32 bit apps aren't supported.
Looks like mobile devices had more support from triple A developers than the Wii U did. I'm also really surprised there wasn't any Gameloft on here. But to be fair, those were mostly knockoffs of console games made for mobile. I'd love to see a video dedicated to Gameloft.
i would love to see Scott talking about java games, specially the ones from big companies like... Rayman the Hedgeho--- uhh.... Rayman Raving Rabbids for J2ME, that's it...
I enjoyed the triple aaa mobile support but the down side of this took away sales from the 3ds and vita......the casual crowd. I wish the vita was shown more triple a and first party support.😞
@@TheMammalizerOLD They werent always like that. The old Modern Combat games used to be CoD for kids who parents didnt buy them a gaming console. They were pretty fun but then they released Modern Combat 5 free version which made more many many times more money then all theyre previous games combined and they realized the true money making method on mobile, microtransactions and free games
irrelevoice there’s quite a bunch actually. In 3rd party app stores like tweakbox and ignition you can just go to the emulators tab and scroll through a whole bunch of them. I only use one though, provenance, wich can run about every console up to the ps1
Die guy die altijd LOL zegt I have to agree, I have a ton of emulated games on my iPhone, I don’t understand what these droids are on about, no jailbreak required, tweak box and iemulators are great examples, but anything to excuse having an Android these days I suppose
@@P0MPH those are poor version of the real emulators, they are literally made/stolen by some shady chinese person and have to conclude that it's dirty. Just admit it, iphone is just like a toy phone without jailbreak.
You can get basically every mainline ace attorney game on mobile, and will be the only way to get spirit of justice and dual destinies after the eshop shuts down
If anyone knows the game Sky: Children of the Light, it is being ported to the switch, and not the Nintendo eShop, actually a real game! Which makes me happy because it is definitely a lesser known game so it will get more attention.
The best port of a game to mobile I’ve seen recently is Stardew Valley. It’s so nice when a creator actually reconfigures their game rather than just sticking a D pad in the corner and expecting you to have surgical precision when clicking the shrunken down menus.
I miss a lot of the old console to mobile games from when I was a kid, sure they were often bad but I enjoyed them and I miss them. I hate the fact that so many mobile games are delisted now.
I'm glad I got away from Apple's BS. Only good thing I can say is I'm glad they got rid of DRM on music, so I was able to get my old stuff back and enjoy em on whatever I want. Also connecting my old iTunes account to Movies Anywhere is great too. I have everything but purchased Apple Store apps back without needing an Apple device
Buy a new joycon actuator off amazon and watch spawnwaves teardown. Or by a new joycon from Walmart and return the ‘drifty’ one in the same box. r/shittylifeprotips
My first experience with a console game on my phone was 'Call Of Duty: Zombies'. Man, I played the absolute hell oit of it.. 'Call Of Duty Mobile' isn't bad at all. I play it while I'm at work, so I probably put 10 hours a week into it. Mobile games and console ports are definitely getting much better..
That's a hardware malfunction that can be fixes, even if it's common. Controlling anything on a mobile's screen is inherently flawed for anything that's even the least bit complicated. I mean, way back then on the DS they tried it with Super Mario 64, they even gave you a thumstrap, and using the touchscreen was full analogue, which is way superior to the D-Pad on paper. People still preferred the D-Pad.
8:34 I actually looked on the App Store and these versions of Sonic 1 & 2 were released on a platform that was not a tablet or phone...that only platform being the Apple TV.
@@robertreid-8-bit-guy635 Interesting (Regarding the edit you made) Apple's been doing some weird and somewhat stupid stuff(In my opinion) lately. I actually still have an iPhone 6S 128GB, because Apple made the worst mistake of removing the 3.5mm headphone jack on the iPhone 7 and newer. I know there are Airpods (Which can be used with Android and Windows Devices) But Apple charges 5x more that what they actually cost as the hardware is not pricey enough than what they think it is. Even the fake ones go for at least $30-$50. So I will not be wasting my money. I do have A little quiz for you though. Question 1: What PC do I currently use? A. MacBook B. Windows 10 Laptop C. Linux PC Question 2. What program do I use to transfer files an music to my iPhone? A. iTunes for Windows B File Explorer C. A macOS Virtual Machine on VMware/VirtualBox D. DearMob iPhone Manager. @@robertreid-8-bit-guy635 That is correct! I know it was a bit weird for me to do this, but I am not the biggest fan of Mac PCs but I will use one if I have to. Just not to transfer files to my phone.
@@Vulpix4025 if you don't want to switch to android for your next phone, try out one of the lightning DAC's. Straight up better sound versus a normal 3.5 that's built in, and would make the newer models more useable.
I think Scott is the only RU-vidr around right now who can record a video where he says the phrase "I was never a huge mobile gamer" without anyone expecting him to go on a long tirade about Raid Shadow Legends.
not only are there console games being ported, but on android you can literally emulate actual wii games and ps2 games at 1080p and it runs at almost full speed. (If you have a snapdragpn 845 or above) The galaxy S10 can literally run xenoblade in 2K at 30fps.
It's a new generation now here to replace us cranky old gamers now. From my teens the best game on a phone was Snake. No worries though if they got cool dudes like Scott who respect and love the history, gameplay and music of old games(check out the playlist that plays during all his videos, most of it is classic games!).
RPGs are usually the best games to be played on phones, that aren't originally made for phones or with phones in mind. The awkwardness of using the button layout is much less an issue, since you're not necessarily in a rush to use any buttons, you can take your time pressing them. In fact, using a GB/A emulator, this can be a great way to play Pokemon rom hacks or RPGs that haven't been localized and released outside of Japan. Mother 3, for instance, is a lot of fun to play on phones, provided you have an emulator and the translation patch. IMO, it's the best way to play it in English. It's as close as you can get to playing a handheld English Mother 3, without purchasing or owning a fan-made translated cart.
Wait how am I just hearing about Carnival Games being on smartphones?!! I own that game on the Wii and it was so fun as a kid, I am totally getting it now 😂
It’s not that big of a deal, I got my first phone in 11th grade, and yes I was in a lot of situations where I wished I had a phone. But really when you get a phone you don’t experience that big jump you expected to experience, at least that’s what happened with me. Btw, don’t think that that happened to me because phones in my time weren’t as good as they are now. I’m only in 12th grade.
In Brazil since everyone is poor all we had was Java phones, so imagine while the USA is playing their 3d sims on their phones we on brazil were playing knock-off sprited versions of the games such as Sims/Gta (renamed gangstar city) that were limited on content and had thousands of different versions online.
Yeah, I don't play games on my phone until this day, mainly because I have so many bad memories about these java ones. its not a surprise how many people are so closeminded about videogame culture, those are not great experiences to have.
I used to play a lot of Java games too since I never really had consoles, and when I got my first phone I would play a lot of them all the time. My phone already had some preset games which were really good, then through my PC I learned how to get even more and better games. I knew how to choose such games and I usually had a lot of blast with them, I have a lot of good memories of them left.
I actually spent my whole childhood playing java games I still play them now from time to time on my Android phone I even know a bunch of websites where you could still get those games
11:09 It's a vs thing, you compete against other players on it and it has a loot box system thing kind of like clash royale. I actually played it till Lv.14 which sounds like a low level for people who haven't played it but trust me, getting Lv.14 takes long.
Mobile processors are getting amazing, especially since they can run full emulation of psp, gamecube and Playstation. 3ds emulation just came to android this week so.... Mobile gaming is definitely better than before.
@@kutaoizumi4189 I can see why, but I love my snes pad with analogue sticks. It's thin and fits in my pocket, and my tablet and phone both have cases with stands on them so I can play it anywhere. It's great. I have every nes, snes, mega drive, gameboy, gb colour, and GBA game on both. It's very handy
I just played through bully on my PS5 last week, lots of issues but a great blast of nostalgia. Can't imagine how piss poor it would run on a smartphone 6 years ago
A lot of people forget Resident Evil Degeneration. It was a pretty good mobile RE game, similar graphics and gameplay to RE4 mobile, but it was a single adventure rather than being chopped up into missions, and it was actually built for mobile, so it didn't suck.
I smell a counterpoint! Even if you're playing the full PS1 version of rayman 2 instead of the mobile version, you're still using a touchscreen controller (also from my experience most people emulating games on mobile don't even know what dumping is or the legality of downloading roms off the internet)
@@PennPal573 you know you can play with a controller right? and the touchscreen controls are not bad you can play D-Pad or Analog mode also want games? Coolrom,RomHustler,Romsmania

I’ve purchased the 5s & the 6 for $150 from boost mobile plus $50 / month unlimited everything. That’s a steal. In 2013 I payed a few hundred for the iPhone 5 and $120 / month for not unlimited everything. That’s a big difference for the average consumer. 1,000 iPhone is a Ferrari most people just need a mini van or Honda
Apple's stuff is overpriced. I got my dad a Moto G6 for like $85 (open box) I've been an Android user ever since I discovered how much affordable you can get a decent Android phone. I don't need no $1000 phone
We actually had the same journey. I also started out with an ipod touch then got the iphone 4 when I was in 8th grade, which was 2011. Good stuff Scott :)
