Impenetrable Thorns is OP. The general strategy is to put on heaviest armor you can, summon mimic, and let them hold aggro as much as possible. When your NPC summon, spirit ash, or co-op partner gets grabbed, SPAM.
This boss fucking sucks. Combo spam with barely a second for punishing, and he hits like a meteor. A few hits and you die. If you make it the second phase, get ready for epilepsy simulator.
yeah, this is just straight up garbage design that doesn't accommodate diverse builds and feels at odds with the games core design philosophy, truly a dogshit fight
@@b1thearchitect401him and melania have some of the worst combo moves its ridiculous. I thought she was bad until I got to him. I have beat everything in the base game and dlc and I'm just dying to this man over and over probabally at 20 deaths right now and I can't get him after his second phase I do no damage
Terrible boss, most DLC bosses suck arse, but Radahn is the worst. Also the fact they put his phase 2 at 75% instead of 50-55% HP like most bosses is atrocious.
@@pponca8953 😂 look throughout the dlc the hardest bosses for me have been the knight hog rider guy, midra and the tree avatar. I died less than 20 to all of them so if I hit 20 there is an issue. Melania killed me like 40 times and that was my longest death count. I'm now at 50 with rhadan I've got close but still can't get it down I'm literally playing it right now
Tips for astrologers : Respec and boost your intell and Arcane as much as possible 'cause, as I found online : "The bleed buildup of this spell ("Impenetrable Thorns") can be improved by the arcane stat of a player if casted with a glintstone staff which scales with arcane, such as the Albinauric Staff or the Maternal Staff". I used both staffs and I managed to kill the boss (The Albinauric Staff is better 'cause it scales with Intell and Arcane equally ("A"). Talismans used : Lord of Blood's Exultation - Winged Sword Insigna - Dragoncreast Greatshield Talisman - Graven-Mass Talisman (or another magic boosting talisman - I didn't want any damage penalty, that's why I chose this one). The boss remains difficult and I wouldn't even call this "cheese" 'cause it took me hours. The RNG is real, especially with the Mimic. Thanks for posting this video that helped me a great deal (though I had to make further searches and play a little differently as I don't use shields). It forced me to get creative, haha.
@@servantofchaos9635 You're very welcome and once again, thank you. Edit : I forgot to tell what crystal tears were the best to combine (at least for me) : Crimsonwhorl Bubbletear + Thorny Cracked Tear (Both are drops from the main game, I believe). Cheers all.
I’ve found that arcane does increase the spells hemorrhage rate, but alongside it not being very consistent at applying bleed, it’s a very meager amount but around 40 - 60 is where it makes a slightly noticeable difference
First phase of this bossfight is pretty difficult, but manageable after some practice. It's the damn second phase that screws up everything. Your cheese tactic worked, btw. Thank you.
@@remzi3043 I honestly hope you did something wrong there. Cuz if it ends up being patched, I’d be pissed as I have another character who is about to face him.😫
@@remzi3043 yup, I just saw the title and said it was nerfed. There goes the cheese tactic. If you beat the boss, kudos to you, bro. Otherwise if not, best of luck!
@@titans2720summoning in general gives the debuff NPC or real player it doesn’t matter, but NPC summons are garbage at least with a real person you get some decent help
This a not a cheese. This is a legit win. I did it today and it's by no means easy. If a boss can one or two shot you, you can certainly use your mimic and spells to fight him. This dude is a beast and hits like a truck. That said, this is a good method of keeping him engaged with your mimic. Good video!
WOW… wish I found this video before I respected my build 7 times. I’ve been fighting the final boss for 10 hours. Incantation only build ain’t it for the dlc. Thanks dude!
@@bd4241 i played through the whole dlc on an pure int caster so i was also pretty sad to have to respec on this guy, at least i stuck to the caster part
@@servantofchaos9635that’s the shame of it. It ruins the entire game getting this far then having to switch up play-style. I have had him to a pixel of life several times… I’m at about the end of my tether now. Looking at re-spec
I’m in the 200 levels and, I had him down to less than a hit with a few health jars. He spammed this attack sequence until I died. The holy rush sword attack followed with a gravity aoe then a holy rush attack and a gravity. I could not let go of block and no time in between to heal. I have had multiple attempts end similar to this. Then I also have I walk through mist he charged at me instantly as I’m calling my mimic.
@@DarkFay i had to. i was playing a pure 80 int caster and he was taking no damage from my soul spears. would take like 45 to kill lmao i didnt have the resources to cast that many
It is and isn’t . I think every boss can be defeated easy if you build a character based on that fight . And either all the options I kinda feel like that’s part of the game
These builds only work for people on their first playthrough idk how you expect to ever beat this guy if you have to cheese the first time you ever try him
The dev or devs who designed this all need to be fired. And never work in the industry again. Stress and frustration in a game due to artificial difficulty is assinine. And it's a reused fuking boss the unoriginal bastages.
@@peenyyt4921 dude, you're either completely delusional or stupid as fuck...this is a reused boss. Also, clearly you're also mad since you commented on this post?
After finally beating him, I have to say I didn't enjoyed the fight at all. In fact, I hated every second of it. With the other bosses I always felt like I was making progress and each time I crossed the fog gate I was actually telling myself that was the good one. But with this boss I just wanted it to be over already. I'm never fighting this guy again. If this is the path From Software is going to follow with their games... I don't think I will buy their next one. They reached a point where I genuinelly don't enjoy the bosses anymore.
@@DarthMakron sorry man i had a lot of fun with it but i can see why you didnt. im hoping they slow things down again. i miss dark souls 2 days and the pvp
@@servantofchaos9635 I also miss Dark Souls. Simpler times. I dumped more than a thousand hours on Dark Souls III even if there was much less content there. But now... I don't know. I think I'm just tired. It might be because I have spent all day headbutting the same boss and I'm sick of it but I really miss the fun I used to had in Dark Souls because I don't feel the same with Elden Ring. Thanks for the video. Helped me a lot with the boss.
same man...if this is the direction they choose to go I won't be coming along for the ride. I beat the final boss twice on two characters now, one on NG and one on like NG+4 or something...not fun whatsoever. Second phase is actually visual diarrhea. Pure cinema and spectacle, but a completely miserable fight. No sense of achievement, just pure relief when it was over. Very sad.
@@masque9446 Yes, that's the best way to explain it. No joy at all. Only relief that it's over. I don't exaggerate, I closed the game when I killed him and didn't even watched the ending cutscene until the next day. I was just that done.
Doesnt matter the build He strings way too many attacks back to back for me to even have a chance to attack By the time i pull 1 off in phase 2 he already killed the mimic
what i do is i try to stay close to my mimic and whenever the mimic attacks him he will aggro on it, and i will use that opportunity to attack before he aggros onto me and the cycle repeats
@@servantofchaos9635 he aggros the mimic? Over 45 attempts and he never once locked onto the mimic even when i wasnt trying to hit him he would stay locked onto me 💀
@@gastergiovanna9793 you need to kinda dodge towards your mimic and sometimes if its too far away completely disengage and run towards the mimic so he will get more involved
Thk you so much for this build ! i got him after 5 tries ! This Impenetrable Thorn sorceries will definitly be Nerfd ! So you guys should use it Asap ! Thks again 😁👍.
I don't have the patience for this boss... it feels like a bad fight to me. Everyone has their own line when it comes to difficulty but this crosses mine. I thoroughly enjoyed the Elden Ring base game but the dlc has just been a frustrating experience. Once I get all the weapons I'll probably never play it again, knowing that I will eventually play the base game again.
@@gl3110 honestly man get your erdtree level up, grab the fingerprint sheild, upgrade it, and grab some lightning perfumer bottles and do the glitch super easy even unbuffed or just with golden vow youll be doing like 9k per AOW
@servantofchaos9635 In return, I offer a cheese strat back to you. High FTH build, sword of night and flame, Golden Vow, FGMS, Alexander Shard, Fire Scorpion, Fire tear and Oil tear in flask. I was hitting some bosses like Gaius for over 10k damage per flame special from the Sword. The Oil tear constantly refreshes the oil status too.
@@crunchy_science that sucks you kinda have to wait till he puts the mimic down. my general strategy was to always stay next to my mimic, and only really attack when the mimic pulled aggro
@@ByronK-dc5iz sunmon your mimic and literally dont attack until your mimic does, if your mimic is being passive, drag the boss to it. try to always dodge and run towards the mimic to increase chances of him attacking. every time he attacks the mimic you are basically guaranteed a bleed proc if not two, try to get close when you use the sorcery
@@ByronK-dc5iz the way aggro works in this game is enemies will always attack who hit them last. so if you never attack then the second the mimic attacks the mimic will draw aggro
@@savageopress8552 yeah as somebody who gets summoned for this fight a lot, people click my sign super fast, like before my character even stands up from drawing it
You should use a different staff and have the one your using on your left hand and use the other staff the thorns staff only buff the thorns spell and the other staff makes it stronger I don't know what the staff is called but you get it from a quest line after killing the finger remembrance boss and go back to the room and interact with the chair and you will get a mini boss fight you will also get a good sword format if you use an item
@@Fathertime94 you dont need to summon him more than once, after this video ends i got his items and the quest conpleted without summoning him for the kill
@@MP14-an the shield is called Brass Shield at level 25 for the extra guard boost, its the best shield i can use on this build i believe, but if i had more strength id just use a greatshield. My logic with the armor is just to put on the heaviest shit i owned, in this case gauis helmet, and the rest is the Verdigris set. the shield feels pretty mandatoy but the armor can be anything heavy with good stats
