www.vernissage.tv | Constantin Brancusi & Richard Serra at Fondation Beyeler in Riehen, Switzerland, brings together two of the most important sculptors of the 20th century. Both the oeuvre of Constantin Brancusi and the work of Richard Serra are shown in a comprehensive exhibition.
Constantin Brancusi's work is represented by about 40 exemplary pieces, which are arranged in various thematic groupings. On display are different variants of "The Kiss", "Children's Heads", "Sleeping Muses", female torsos, and the "Birds in Space", "Princess X", "Adam and Eve", and "Endless Column".
The Fondation Beyeler selected ten different works from Richard Serra, among them are early pieces in rubber and lead, the steel sculpture "Strike: To Roberta and Rudy", and the works "Olson" and Fernando Pessoa".
The exhibition was curated by Oliver Wick, and conceived in collaboration with the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, which will present the exhibition from October 10, 2011. The exhibition at Fondation Beyeler runs through August 21, 2011.

I am also from Romania and an artist and I personally really like it. He brings out the essence of form and meaning. It`s a good lesson to be learn as a visual communicator.

This is such a wonderful pairing for an exhibition. The Fondation Beyeler site is also a wonderful addition to the video. I didn't know that Richard Serra was at Brancusi's studio in connection with a scholarship he received. Your videos are such an education!

@shubagrebshnitz for me, Brancusi has a really unique formal language. What I find very interesting is how he combines the sculptures with their pedestals.

Does anyone have an installation video of the Serra piece..."DELINEATOR" It frightens the ______ out of me with that one plate on the ceiling. I just wish I could see how it was installed. I love Serra's work.

@shubagrebshnitz yes, exactly. Some people like the sculptures but not the pedestals, but in my opinion, they are essential to understand his oeuvre.

@henrichy0205yt Definitely! It`s beautiful how the pedestals are not very chiselled or polished so it keeps the feel of the human touch. And it this way and by the shapes they have they are very reminiscent of Romanian ethnographic crafts and architecture. It`s a nice metaphor that in the literal way the bases of his sculptures are his cultural routs.

Which one of the 11 dimensions does Richard Serra see through? All I see is raw material.
