Was looking for this answer myself. In another tutorial for a constitution cup, I saw that if you do not use a laser printer and use an inkjet instead, then you need to seal your printout with at least 3 layers of clear spray paint. But I'm still confused as to how this will tear and actually work when you distress your paper.
So I had 2 layers of red on my cup. Tried to apply the temporary vinyl around where the blue will go and I had to reposition it and it pulled up some of the red. Any ideas how I can prevent this? Hoping another coat will cover up what was pulled off. It pulled off even the gray. I did use FNA slate gray for my base. Please advise!
This is AMAZING! I have done one similar before I switched to crystalac and I burned the edges of my paper with a lighter! I am so excited about making these colors! I do have some trouble controlling how many drops come out of my pigment bottles though. I think maybe I cut the tips off too much. I do have a question. Did you do the white vinyl for the stencil because just the painters tape would not be enough? Is it more likely to bleed? Thank you for all of your amazing tutorials!
Painters tape should be fine as long as you're doing that 1-2 coats of BT to seal. I used the vinyl from around my stars so that I could keep it right at the same time and as square as possible. If you have issues with your pigment add your pigment to the cup first, before adding any of the UW or EP/BT. That way if you need to, you can try and remove some. I usually just hold my bottle upside down and let the drops come through gravity
