This whole segment consist of the spiking . It is very important to spike very tightly and consistent for optimal results. This is one of my spiking patterns I use, this is not traditional spiking.
Thank you it has been a while since I make any my living situation prohibited me from making any but I am going to be buying my own house and I'm going to start making them again thank you so much.
Love to make Shell . but I still have a lot to learn about shell, what I love about pyro is that you can always learn and be inspired by others pyros 😊😊
Nice work and videos , I made 3 4"shells ,made them realy nice , they were hard , but my spiking had big gaps where time fuse is , and when I shot it break shitty and quiet and most of stars didnt ignite probably they break , can you help ?
WELL MAYBE YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD PRIMER ON THEM ALSO WHAT TYPE OF STARS ARE YOU MAKING ARE THEY NITRATE BASED OR PERCHLORATE BASED, THEN YOU GO FROM THERE AND USED THE PROPER PRIME!
Tiger tail is very easy to ignite. I never add any prime to charcoal stars like that. Maybe your burst charge was too strong so that your stars blew blind or your stars were poorly bounded so they maybe shattered with the break.
Hey, good job explaining offset string spiking for can shells. Are you using a spiking horse? Maybe show what's holding the spool tight as you spike. thanks for sharing, I enjoy seeing how other people do it.
How tight are you pulling the string when spiking? Are your shells stuffed so tightly full, that you can spike the shell really tight without deforming/ crushing the shell? That’s the problem I have. I am contemplating adding a ton of very weak meal powder to help make sure the shell is stuffed solid.
For my cylinder shells I use 2-fa corned with a little added booster at times, like maybe 1.5 grams flash or 3 grams slow flash., but have used 7;1 bp on rice hulls, with added booster 1.5 grams flash. I have never tried kp for lift ,I always use 2-fa for cylinder shells, and 4 -fa for ball shells the 4-fa gets them up higher and you use less because of the grain size the flame propagates around faster.
You need to learn how to make "clove hitch" knots. Check my channel .. (Glen_lemieux),I use a clove hitch knots around my spolette and a simple tie knot, then spike them. It allows me to spike them tight from the start. AND ,also,I also use a double clove hitch, then trim my twine upon final.
