This is like taking model building to the next level. Unfortunately all that hard work will probably be destroyed with the next heavy rain.
@CogentConsult

His construction techniques are sound, but his engineering needs work. I doubt he calculated the flow rate to get the optimum size of those sluiceways. His junctions between the brick and clay do not go deep enough into the hillside so this beautiful dam and power plant will only last a year or two at best before it starts to degrade perilously, unfortunately.

It’s probably already destroyed; by him. That’s why that concrete pad is there. He builds so many of these, for RU-vid, that he put that slab with culverts there so he could always work on a solid, level, dry foundation. It’s the same creek every time, same scenery in the background, same people farming. The creek was much shallower than it is now. He had some dirt work done so he could have wider walls, and deeper so his dam wouldn’t flood the creek farther back into the village.

Looks like I’m here early. Seeing the turbines being opened having an effect on the amount of water flowing through the spillway (if that’s the correct term) there seems like a good thing. I would expect it means that your dam is making more efficient use of the water flowing through or past it and turning more of that energy into electricity.

It is cool, but all that indicates is that his turbines use water faster than his source fills it... he was wise to put the turbine inlets a bit below the spillway height.. very cool!
@mallarysangel
@mallarysangel Месяц назад
@@yrag0789ableThat was my thought as well. He did a nice, albeit crude, job making those blades for a more efficient turbine, but if this was a permanent structure, which we know it isn’t, he’d outrun his source of water and have to shut the gates.

great job, I've been watching these videos for a while and I find them interesting. (I'm not an engineer) but I have always thought that if you put the turbines as low as possible, the water should have a greater force to move the turbine, I would also try to use the water drainage pipe that you use to make drain the water while you build the dam to move the turbine, using a tap that you leave open while you build the dam and then by closing it you can fill it, you can mount a turbine on the pipe, opening it as you like you can regulate the flow of water entering the turbine . in this way you will have the maximum pressure from the column of water above, if you then reduce the large pipe the pressure will increase. this way, the turbine will be at the lowest point and powered by the maximum pressure available from the dam. I would make the turbines with the outlet wider than the inlet, so that the water will not have any impediments to exiting and offering maximum pressure on the propeller. I believe that the less still water there is around the propeller, the more it is free to rotate, the air is compressible, the water is not. It would be nice to see a dam with these small modifications

I’ve watched several of these videos and have always wondered if you use the power generated from these dams to power anything else? Such as something in a home or to charge batteries etc.

quick question, what do you do when you built the dams? do you just leave it or do you destroy them
@graffititube
@graffititube 2 месяца назад
you should do the electricity generation part with the coil on the rear wheels of the electric bicycle. you get speed with a larger wheel with both the rim diameter and the gear on the edge. you use very little of the potential energy.
