And always, so far, the citizen arrest rules prevent me from binding, holding, restricting movements, physical force of any kind. A citizens arrest is basically, "Citizen, Halt! I am placing you under a citizen's arrest, please remain there as I call the proper authorities." If they run, I cannot chase. Yeah some states let me shoot you after x number of warnings, and if you are threatening my person or property, but you do not get to have the gun and be the one to escalate the situation (unless you are an officer with proper authority to do so). So PLEASE. *PLEASE!!* explain to me why they were authorized to draw their weapons in the first place. when their civic duty was to stay at the scene of the alleged robbery and wait for police to arrive so that they may give their story and description. EVEN if we grant the accusation that the McMicheals are making, they had no legal right, that I can find, to confront said subject with a drawn firearm. There civic duty was to remain at the scene of the alleged crime and waitffor proper authorities. full stop. Except they weren't chasing him... In the video Ahmaud kept running a good 60 yards up to where their truck was parked before he attacked Travis. If their intent was to kill him, they would've shot at him as he was running up to them, but no shots were fired until Ahmaud initiated a physical altercation. That's self defense.

Yes, he really *"Dismantled the Killers' defense"* there, didn't he. He didn't "answer irrelevant questions about whether he or various others may have made made official complaints about alleged thefts in the neighbourhood." Nope, he dismantled a defense which has as yet not been offered. Quite a feat by someone who wasn't present at the time, when all is said and done. This is a disgraceful example of trial by TV. Utterly, utterly shameful. I can only imagine what the reaction would be if the rights of a black man were so unceremoniously trampled over by a television program who then portrayed as legitimate journalism. What we discovered from these questions is that the owner of the property, which Ahmaud unquestionably entered without permission, had nothing material to add to what is already known. The fact that he wasn't aware of why those two men claim to have apprehended someone they suspected as a thief, is irrelevant. It certainly has no impact on any defense the "accused" are likely to offer. I'm sure there are many facts about the incident of which this man is ignorant. If I tell you that I have no idea why they decided to get involved as they did instead of just leaving it to the police, (and I don't) would I, by any stretch of the imagination, be impacting their defense in the slightest?

@@Silkbandito yeah. I suppose it would depend on the timing, and hopefully now that the trial has ended this threat will go away. The whole thing depends on whether or not a threat is credible. I remember a few years ago some of my students thought it would be cute call up their professors and pretend to be threatening their lives. In my case one of the conspirators laughed and I recognized her laugh immediately. Another professor was a woman from Egypt and she was the first to laugh because she had gotten some death threats from definitely credible sources. You can’t really tell from an email or call whether not a threat is credible, so the police or the FBI have to investigate each one of these. Certainly, threatening someone is not a joke.

It's called the the Castle Law. Basically, you can KILL anyone who comes on your property. The US is pretty awful when it comes to valuing human lives. It was a good idea back when most families lived isolated by wilderness (most people forget just how big the US is, and why we needed laws that allowed for defense of safety and survival) but they are hilariously out of date, especially with the advent of cell phones and the internet. Even Georgia still has a "Thems fighting words" clause, if I'm not mistaken. It's hilariously out of date, and to get any law changed is a slow process.

I did the same with my dad when I was a little kid. Great memories and I still look at houses even now and think of those times.

My dad did the same with me and my brother. We worked construction with him in summer when school was out for the year. And yes, sometimes he would spot an interesting house being built (usually just framed), but we would stop and take a look inside. This was in the early nineteen sixties and in broad daylight! It helped give my dad some ideas about adding a carport to our house, ideas on how to renovate our kitchen, etc. I never thought we were doing anything illegal, because we were not!

I did the same, as an adult with my grown parents when they were looking for their forever home. Aside from the fact that we just like looking at houses, we'd ride through neighborhoods they liked and some that were being built to look at layouts & we never had an issue...& we live in KY. It's wild how anyone can defend following any person you suspect of a crime with a gun instead of reporting it to police. That's just asking for trouble you really don't want.

Under questioning by the defense he could not remember making a statement about trespassers and water even though there is a transcript of him saying that to 911. Save your hug and watch the trial.

The homeowner is a proven liar. On the stand under oath he admitted that he was very concerned about ahmaud to the point he gave a neighbour permission to hold ahmaud until the cops came. He also told the cops and neighbours that the electrical equipment was stolen from his property. The whole claim that be didn't know where the stuff was stolen from was invented after ahmaud death. Not once did he inform anyone that he wasn't sure where the stuff was stolen from. He led everyone to believe that stuff was stolen from the property. The guy is the greatest villain in all of this tragic saga. Yet all these fools praise him because he told them the lies that they wished to hear.

They then chased him in their truck and cut him off in the street before getting out of their truck and brandishing their weapon. What they did was aggravated assault which gave arbery the right to defend himself. So yea the mcmichaels were definitely never the victims dumbass.

Yes, it was an act of desperation on the defense's part, for clients that were so clearly guilty. A year later, and all three have been found guilty, and will spend the rest of their lives in prison.

Even if he stole something, it would have to fit in his pocket and something light or not cumbersome, which equate to something cheap. Let the guy go and report it/call police. That's it and it would just be a petty theft. An open construction like that, anyone working and leave expensive stuff in the open is not something workers do anyways.

The people across the street from me who were doing construction were cool with us and neighbors checking out the place . They put all there personal belongings and equipment in a locked trailer when they left.

English was very much concerned about who was entering his house and was fearful who ever was entering the house had stole something prior. Over the course of months English testified he continued to call the police several times on a man that looked like Arbrey entering his house even though there was no evidence he stole anything. English grew so concerned he added more cameras and he had a neighbor watch his house, the same neighbor who would later contact the McMichaels, when he was away. The neighbor's wife testified that English had her husband watching the house as well and the same wife testified that she brought a gun fearful of what was going on the neighborhood. English was pretty much a male Karen who built a feeling of fear in the neighborhood and consistently called police. When Abrey died and he started to receive death threats he started to limit his involvement and threw the McMichaels under the bus.
