One of the best motion pictures about a scientist who refused to give up on her dream, regardless of how many people said it will not work. They said that to every inventor that ever lived. Persistence is the key, or at least die trying to fulfill your dreams. Never give up ! Never surrender !!!
Wow, this whole video spanned 5+ years. So she went to Arecibo and spent some time there (presumably a couple of years), then went 13 months trying to get funding and then spending 4 years listening for the signals. And then the signal came and it took another presumably 1-3 years to decode it, then say another 2-3 years to build the first machine, another few weeks/months for second? All in all, she must've been 11-12 when her HAM radio scene happened and from there likely her Phd puts her around age 26-28 and then it took easily another 10 years for her journey making her nearly 38-40 when she took her journey! Wow.

Really like this film but the Blu-Ray shows up the cheesiness of some of the CGI so I watch the standard DVD. First saw it in a huge theater with the sound cranked.
