Where I dance there is music but it is "free" - anyone can anytime change song or turn off the music. The contact improvisation world is usually very open and accepting. :)
this may sound really stupid, but is this ever done with music?? or is it an a cappella thing? i'm really interested in trying this but i'm a ballet dancer and am soo used to dancing to music that i fear i may kind of suck
wonder why no one answered your valid question: it's improv - and an open ended exploration; so being stuck is probably good, the fear of sucking is groundless -because you have so much to fall back on in terms of your training.... give it a try; you won't be disappointed.
