I built this thing out in the Azores around 2001. I pulled it off the shelf today because we were wondering how much carrier a simple balanced modulator leaves behind, and how much is eliminated by the crystal filter. A DSB rig is a good way to test this because it has no filter. There is quite a bit of carrier even after the balanced modulator.
It was great to have a contact with this old rig. thanks to Gene AB9GK for the QSO.
