I love the cone boxwoods at the front door, I don't think they look too small. Eventually you could get a second light to balance things out, for now it doesn't look bad. Benjamin just gets more and more adorable, and he is growing so fast. Russell is such a kitty, pretty funny he was digging in your pot in the dirt, I love his feet so cute like mittens. Loved this video, gives me some ideas that I can incorporate into my own yard and landscape. Thank you again Laura for sharing, have a wonderful day with Benjamin and Aaron.
Hard workin' woman! Everything looks sooo beautiful, you're very talented and you make it look so easy - you give me incentive! Your darling baby has you gorgeous blue eyes! What a wonderful family you have and a great husband, too!
Great video and advice about planting things to save them over the winter. Benjamin is just so darn cute and the joy in your voice when you see him is wonderful to hear!! Good to see Russell getting his paws dirty ;) I think the containers look good and the more you look at them I bet you will like them by the door. Love the bagpipe music for the pulling of the plants for sure!!!
Love your videos love those urns by your French doors and I especially love that you are willing to share Benjamin with everyone just a little bit. He looks like he is the happiest baby and the two of you as parents look like the model that all parents should follow.
I love how those containers next to the door look. Not to small. Remember you will be decorating for Christmas with evergreens around the door frame. But do get that 2nd light 😁
I love the arborvitae in the new pots and the arrangements you surrounded them with and also the boxwoods by the doors. The single light would drive me nuts, too! We're supposed to drop to 43 degrees this afternoon and a first frost tonight (Upstate New York) so I'm afraid I'm going to lose my coleus, too. I was able to plant my 50 tulip bulbs and 30 allium on Sunday. I still need to get my garlic in, but unlike your area, we've had a ton of rain and warmer temps lately. I also want to say that I have learned so much since finding your channel and have received so many compliments on my garden this year. Keep it up! Russell and those paws. Too funny! And, Benjamin. . . .such a cutie pie!
Everything!!!! That's what I loved about this video!!! Everything!!! The flowers, the planting, your beautiful family, the chatting, seriously it was a joy to watch!!! Thank you!!
Love the music addition, Aaron, as we say goodbye to the flowers!😂 you guys are the greatest and inspire me daily to get back out in my very neglected gardens after two years of eye surgeries😵
Amazing how the weather is changing I love be able to seeing This and how winter change real life. I’m a Floridian so we don’t have but rain hot no rain hot :)
I could watch your videos all day! Love how you explain every little thing for newbies like myself and share with us little glimpses of your family and kitty cat. All of that is a great start to a day! Good stuff! Keep it coming!
I think those two containers look great at that door. You do need another light above the one container, to balance it out. Then you will see that they are perfect 😍💜🌵
i like the boxwoods there! i think you were so used to the bigger plants that it's hard to see it... that is funny about the light! and Benjamin, oh my, he's getting so big and he's just too cute!!
Love the red violas. I think the boxwoods and the planters look great my the front door. I don't think they are too small at all. It was just to other planters were taller. I love the bits and pieces of seeing Benjamin and Russel in the videos.
Oh my goodness, the light!! I’m glad I’m not the only one who is like this, lol! Yes it does need another light, something a little bigger, imo. great ideas for fall, keep the coming!!
I would love a video about your strategy for picking plants for containers and in the landscape. How do you choose which plants to use? What are the steps to take to make sure the plants will look good together and live well together?
Excellent video. Here’s a challenge for you and Aaron. Garden Answer 12 days of garden. A Christmas series (before Christmas) with tips, favorite garden tools, favorite plants etc. Short 3 min clips. Sorry but I can’t have enough of your channel. I always learn something new. ☺️
I would love a mama vlog of your routine with Benjamin or a completely different mama channel!! 😍😍😍 anyways I love your videos Laura 💚 you’re so motivating and inspiring thank you for your content 💚
Hey Laura thanks for bringing us along. It's kind of crazy you're dealing with and finding aphids right now. I am actually finding them as well and been treating like crazy with neem oil throughout my vegetable garden succulents and indoor plants. Especially that I just brought some new soil home and transplanted with it. It happens to us gardeners and it happens so quickly if not treated and cleaned up before replanting. I always have to treat preventatively here in Florida throughout the fall and summer when I grow because we are still getting temperatures in the 92 range for a few more weeks. We don't hit below freezing till after December into January. You're such a hard worker and I know how much work it takes to have a beautiful garden. Thanks for sharing as always. You're amazing at what you do. I love your little trailers and garden wagons. I've been trying to invest in one for a while but just can't do it right now unless I find one for a good Steel somewhere lol
I appreciated the bagpipe music, lol. I love how you say “just gonna grab a few plants” and then come out of the greenhouse with a whole wagon full! 😀 I think the box woods look like the perfect size right where they are. 🌲
The new planters by the door look great...With regards to the light fixture, if you were to hang something that was approximately the same size and tone in colour it would trick your eye/mind into seeing symmetry. That could be an option whilst you source a new pair of lights. You might be hard pressed to find an exact match. Love Russell and his work!
You three are adorable:) Oh , paint the existing light white spend more time with your young family!! Their only little for little while! My daughter is 33:)
I think the box woods look so good flanking the doorway! The doors with the wreaths are the focus. It’s beautiful the way it is, except I’m writhe you on the light😀❤️
To remedy the height problem with the boxwoods have Aaron build you wooden boxes to the proper scale and paint them to match the containers. Mount the containers on the boxes and they will be the perfect size!
The boxwood near the front door is beautiful you really don't need to move them during Christmas you can decorate them with lights. Benjamin is so adorable sweet. And Russell had me 😁 he was having a great time.
Laura, what if you put some kind of decorative boxes under your planters to give them more height. They will be cute with Christmas lights! I really like them.
I think the cone boxwoods near the front door look great! They may seem small to you, but the other ones were way too big and look much better in the square containers. That's funny about the light! I think it's fine though. You could put a house number sign or a decorative art piece or swag there to balance things out. It would probably be more economical than getting an electrician in to wire in a new light.
Omg, this video had me laughing so much! I can't believe you've never noticed just the 1 light, it's always stood out to me... because I have issues. Lol Benjamin is so darn adorable, it's a joy to see him grow up in your videos. ♡
I think I would paint the large containers that you just removed from the double doors. Painting them a grey color with a white wash would help hide some of those hard water stains a little better. It's just a thought, they seem like such a great container especially if you're looking for height.
The 2 big black pots turned out great with Russell's help. LOVE seeing Benjamin. And I like the small containers by the doors I think the bigger pots drew your eyes to them instead of the light
Hi Laura, you are so inspirational. I finally found the coral bells for my garden. After the 30 MPH winds destroyed my Coleus. Now I'm looking for a couple of the hostas you have used. Unfortunately here in Zone 10 we won't get them in until November. thanks for all of your videos and please keep them coming . By the way Benjamin and Russell are so cute.
My cat Missy, who I had for 19 years, followed me around the garden from job to job. She's been gone for 7 years and I still look for. Enjoy Russell's company.
Love the bagpipes, haha! And Russell, what a feisty little boy you are! I couldn't help but laugh at his dirty paws (those paws!!). Thanks again for another great video!
I so enjoy everything you and your husband accomplish in your Landscape! If you do add another lantern to this doorway area, maybe a pair of larger black ones would look fabulous flanking your French doors. Benjamin is so adorable and I love Russell too!
I think the boxwoods let the window boxes stand out more. Something bigger still looks nice as well. You have a great space that can accommodate either size. I am curious, why do you have the estate planters in a bed and not on the walkway, perhaps next to it? You would have more ground planting space and the drip would still be in place. Benjamin is too cute! Can't wait to see him running around helping with the garden.
Those topiaries looks so pretty way better than those humangous pots. You can just add the other light on top but you don't need to hook it up with wires, nobody will tell the difference if its wired or not. And I'm sure you dont need the light up there since you didnt even notice it till now. It will be perfect balance and problem solved.
If my local garden stores are anything to go by I’d say you could take those pots and charge double for them as a “patina” since everyone lately loves those
I love this blog. So funny. Love love little Bennie, you too Aaron! Laughed out loud at the music. And I would take the planters. Would live your hand me downs lol. I am 66 and have learned so much from this blog. My garden has never looked better. I think you and Aaron are amazing. Keep up the great work.
🌻Awesome video. Love the Arborvitaes new home. Benjamin is so sweet and adorable. 🐾🐾🐾 BUT Russell stole the show!!! When you saw him in your pot, it was PRICELESS!!! 🐈 I laughed so hard at you talking to him about his feet😳😳😳. There are no words to how funny that was. 😂😂😂You are so funny. One light there will drive you crazy after 3 years of living there! I bet there will be another one there soon 😊. Thanks for making my day! 🤗
Keep them up next to the door, the scale looks great and Christmasy to me.. love you and your wonderful videos and inspirations.I just play your videos throughout the day while I'm working and you keep me going and in a fall and festive mood. Thank you and your husband and your beautiful son you are appreciated
No patience needed, as a good cat lady🤣😻 you only see de joy in their playfullnes. I never can be a angry at them, even somethimes they reorganiz a flowerbed😂. It probable dident look as good as i thought so thats their to help you a hand🤗😉
3 things. 1) Benjamin(sp?) Is getting so big! 2) This is the first time and I remember see Irises in you garden. Could you do a video about care and upkeep of Irises? 3.) I love these kind of videos! The vlogging type with talking about the plants. And thank you for sharing your garden 😊 and your life.
You just bring me joy! I haven't been following you for so long, but now I just look forward to watching all of your video's.......in such a crazy world it is so lovely to have you and your gardening...thank you for sharing your world!
The "purple heart" or "wandering jew" is very very winter hardy. It'll die all the way back to the ground & come back vigorously in the spring. It's a spreader too! Makes a good ground cover or bed filler. They have really pretty pink heart shaped flowers that the bees also love!! I planted mine with sweet potato vines & they've intermixed with each other & it's so pretty!!
Setcreasea (pronounced set-Crease-ee-uh), or Purple Heart or Wandering Jew : I live in Dallas (zone 8) and mine wither and die back to the ground after the first couple of freezes, but they do come back in the spring (and so do my Creeping Jenny). I’ve got a bed in full shade and they love it, but I have some in sunnier spots and they do just as fine there. They are covered in honey bees summer mornings. And they are super easy to propagate. Simply break off a runner and stick it in the ground, literally. No rooting, no soil amending, just make a small hole with a stick and shove it in. It’ll sit there the first season, but next one you’ll have a small bush from one little runner. And I don’t think the runners root, so they’ll spread, but are easily controlled. They’re not gorgeous plants, but they’re super easy to grow.
Ray Bennett, I love the unique structure and deep purple colour of the Purple Heart. Even if it didn't bloom it would still look gorgeous to me but the little pink flowers are an added bonus. 💜
I'm in Fort hood texas zone 8!! We are about 2 hours apart!! Same with my wandering jew, it's in mostly shade & it does well. I have to trim them often to keep them maintained but they're such an easy plant!
Purple Heart or "Wandering Jew" is not hardy in Laura's zone 5, so it needs to be used as an annual outside however it makes a wonderful house plant! The USDA Hardiness Zone: 7 - 11 for these plants! It's not hardy in my area either.
I’m with you Laura. Got to have symmetry. I would have to do another light or it would bug me like crazy. 😉😄😄😄. I’m a soon to be first time grandma and seeing Benjamin is getting me so excited! My daughter is due November 9 and she is having a girl. 😃😍. You and your family are such a joy to watch and you and Aaron do an amazing job on your videos. Blessings to you and your family. 😍👍
