Awesome! Please do! More Korean literary translators are needed! Feel free to check out a full list of the contemporary korean fiction I've read here: www.goodreads.com/review/list/4783994-ocean-gebhardt?shelf=contemporary-korean

Also, I'd recommend following some translators like Sora Kim Russel and Anton Hur on Twitter. They're pretty active and seem to post useful information. All the best!

They are! Depending on which country you are located in, you can find them used online for a decent price as well. Enjoy! And feel free to let me know your thoughts. As you can tell I really enjoy this literature.

Dude thank you so much for this video. I recently found No One Writes Back randomly and was so intrigued by the summary and title. I really wanted to read it, but the fact that (as a student) money is tight for me, I wanted to make sure that this book would be worth every coin I spent. So I tried to look for RU-vid reviews and your video was 1 of only 2 videos I could find about this book. OMG. Thank you so much for this video because if I never found it I doubt I would have ever bought it, and if I had never bought it I would not have been this moved. This is the first book I have read in a long time that really impacted me. Such a simple, almost "plotless" story that just worked in all the right ways, especially with Jang Eun Jin's writing and of course it translated so well thanks to Jung YeWon. So again thank you! This is the first Asian and Korean literature I have ever gotten into, which is ironic considering I am Asian and how involved I am in Asian pop culture (you might not be interested in K-Dramas but I very much am LOL (its really good you should give it another try haha)). I am definitely going to invest in reading some more books from the Library of Korean Lit like A Good Family by Seo Hajin, when I get some more money of course. Again thank you so much for this review and the domino effect it has made on my life I will never shut up about this book ever again.

I love this review of the book and I'm so happy I was able to help! Btw, I'm not sure if you're in the US, but I order most of my books used, via Abebooks, so definitely check it out when ordering your next book (I found A Good Family for $12.72 with free shipping just now). Enjoy! There's some great contemporary korean fiction out there, and when one of them hits you (like No One Writes Back did with you) it's awesome. Btw, feel free to add me on Goodreads, where I comment on any other ones I read: www.goodreads.com/oceanlugano

@@FreelanceTranslatorTips Okay this will sound wierd but I actually found A Good Family from your Goodreads review of it which was the reason why I wanted to read it so you have basically become my literary guide. Thanks so much for the website rec as well, I am in the US and I used to use Half Price Books and ThriftBooks but I could never find anything with a reasonable price, good condition, and sometimes they just never had the books I wanted! This is awesome AH. Thank you!!! ^^

@@qtran2004 haha actually it's not that weird. Unfortunately I haven't encountered all that many people interested in translated Korean fiction, so I seem to see the names of the same readers/reviewers over and over. It'll probably be the same for you. Too bad, I think it's a great genre! Enjoy your reading!

I love this video and I have read Pavane of a dead princess which I loved. It will be great if you could do a video about japanese and Taiwanese lit =)

Actually I would love to do that. I've been reading a great deal of Japanese lit lately, including some cool detective novels from the 60s. I wish there were more Taiwanese literature in translation, but I've been trying to read anything I can get my hands on.
