CONTEST 49CS The difference is in the details 

Allures 51.9 is currently my fav of the 50-footish boats. Amel 50 being #2 and Oyster 495 being #3.

I love the Allures but if you have a family, the setup with the master cabin forward and the two cabins each with two twin berths aft (where beam is wider) makes more sense. The interior I think is also a tad better. And if the charts I saw are correct, it can do 14 knots in a little over 10 knots true wind, which is impressive for a 49 footer, and will right itself up from about 125 degrees heel, which is also very strong. Not sure what the equivalent charts are for the Allures but my guess is, not as strong.

@@constantinealexandrakis it's good that there are boats made for just about everyone's taste. My dream boat would be the Allures, full beam aft master, VIP cabin, 2 bunks, and my favorite things about it the aluminum hull, and enclosed cockpit.

I do have a tour of the Elan, so will post it next week for you. The only thing is it will be a voiceover as we lost the sound for both the Elan tours (forgot to turn on the mic) still it's a great boat. I am with you on the Allures 51.9 it is an amazing sailboat built for more adventure-seeking cruisers.

Ah, not just me thinking about food, We have this discussion a lot about nav desks and you bring up a very valid point on this one. I will have to find a creative way to make a video on all the different nav stations or lack of on some boats. Now off to go and eat some pasta, maybe spaghetti tonight?

Happy birthday, funny it's mine too, sure I will do that if you can send me an Allures for my gift. We are out on an Alubat in a few weeks, very excited about that and hopefully on the new contest 63 if we go to the Palma boat show. We are out on an RM soon and maybe an Amel 60. We will be testing the whole Alubat range over the next 12 months so as I said really excited.

I had no idea about the whales on your side of the world and with overfishing and more yachts on the water I am sure we are going to have more encounters with the larger marine life. All told, if I am honest, when we were hit by the Orcas last year, it affected how I look at yacht safety and route planning. We always used to be quite fluid in our planning taking tides into account and so on but now I plan pretty much every nautical mile and have many different emergency plans in place. Amel has one of the best tec rooms out there and more yacht manufacturers should take note. I am glad I am not the only one when it comes to the aircon controls, they do it to give the cabins a cleaner look but yes to have to open the wardrobe to change temperature is pointless and irritating. I have some videos I made for the BOOT boat show on anchors, boat tec, decking that sort of thing. If I am honest they are not great but I just wanted to test the water and see what you guys think, if you like them then we will do a better job at the next boat show and on factory tours to make the content great.

@@SVTONICBoatWives yeah, last year at least two boats were hit and sunk, one was a cat. People here are very concerned, specially at night passages. Amel's are very well thought on every aspect. Garcia should follow their engine room philosophy. I can imagine what a pain in the grass must be to try to fix anything that's part on the front and part on the aft on a boa rocking and rolling on the south seas - where Ex[lorers are supposed to be. And their watertight bilkheds are a VERY underestimated safety feature EVERY bluewater boat should have. Why do designers do not copy good ideas - like Amel's watertight bulkheads - but copy stupid ones like the placement of aircon controls is something that assures me that the covid left side effects on many people :) I'd love to see these "news" videos! Most channels here show boats but I guess most of the viewers have their own boat and upgrading it is always easier than buying a new 2 million Euro Amel (lottery, remember me next time, please!). @@SVTONICBoatWives I thought a boat garage was a great solution for aesthetics. Now that I have begun to study this issue, I have come to understand that often the size of these garages greatly limits the choice of boat. Aesthetics are fading into the background, now I also consider boats with beams, which I never did before😅

@@h1cks763 I think tender garages have their place and in the case of Contest they have their 50C which is the same hull as the 49CS but no tender garage, it is an aft cabin instead. Every boat has pros and cons at the end of the day it's your choice, for me, you are ahead of most people as you are researching ideas?

That’s why they have the 50c (I will be uploading that video soon) it’s the same hull but with a beautiful aft cabin instead of the tender garage, I like the fact that you can have a choice. Glad you liked the boat though she is a beast.
