After a rainy evening at the Iowa 80 truckstop, we fueled up goliath said our goodbyes to Amanda and got heading west again. Meandering our way through Cedar Rapids and Waterloo and then westbound on Highway 20 through Iowa. We finally made it into South Dakota and ended up stopping for the night in Mitchell.

You made a smart move not going across I80 to I29 and then North. About that time I29 North of Council Bluffs was closed due to Flooding.

Always love that content across the Iowa countryside. Takes me back to my roots. Could you see substantial flooding in and around Sioux City? They got whacked as did Council Bluffs again.

You could see the remnants in North Sioux City, South Dakota. There was still a lot of water on the ground.

I agree on these GPS maps are designed to bring you through commerce no matter how far out of the way it is.. then it lies and says its the shortest route.. I learned the hard way one time when it pulled me off the interstate saying road closed (it was not closed) to go though a toll booth. needless to say I was pissed off and looked like many fell for it as well.. So its always best to pre plan your route to avoid the bullshit these google money collectors will send you down.. 5-6 miles per gallon sounds terrible.. I Get upset with 14-16 in my camping rig.. Im guessing Goliath is pre emissions? Mine has a EGR COOLER/VALVE which im still trying to decide to replace it or delete it.. Stay frosty friends!

Yes, Goliath is preadmissions. In 7 miles to the gallon is actually really good for a big truck. Especially when this old.

It varies depending on how much inventory and or motorcycles we are carrying. But we’re usually mid 70,000-ish.

Going up I 29 in Sioux City brings back a lot of memories. I used to play hockey in that arena next to the fair in my youth. It was the Gateway Arena then and now I think it's the Tyson Arena if memory serves. Does Sioux City still smell like crap all the time?

I’ve heard other people talk about the smell there. But I’ve never noticed it myself.
