Still don't understand why you need to add the Mass coming into the element @ABCD to the rate of change of mass in the x-direction in the element to get the mass exiting the element at EFGH, anyone?
We have to add rate of change in mass with mass entering the face ABCD. It's because the here we use integration to find the rate of change in mass which gives exact value of change in mass it may be positive or negative. So by adding the rate of change in mass with the mass entering through the face ABCD we will get the mass of fluid leaving through the face EFGH. He take 2kg-1kg just as an example.
