I use the libra 2 and my readings are usually about 4.5 in the morning unless I’ve had a high carb meal at night!!! My glucose rises after carbs to 8 or at worst 9 but always comes back to baseline after 1-2 hours. My Hba1c is 5.6 and now I’ve recovered from pancreatitis I feel so much better. I try to sick to IF and low carbs but like you I don’t feel guilty if I occasionally 1-2 x per week eat out and have less control on the carb counts
I would be more likely to use one if the tests continually monitored insulin levels and insulin resistance levels, showing HOW it arrived at the figure displayed. Glucose alone paints an incomplete picture, that many people, even some professionals, are misled by. The doctors of the 80s and before who understood it all are long gone. this stuff used to be understood by EVERYONE. What happened????? Im glad most of it is so largely understood here, by you. Too many of The other doctors and Nurse Practitioners of today are an embarassment.
Can you do a video on how to lower your sugar after you eat, I always feel sleepy and automatically fall asleep after I eat my mom told me to drink cucumber juice but that doesn't help. Thank you. I already take a pill that removes the sugar out from your body but that doesn't help either I don't wanna end up poking myself insulin. Help thank you.
Kait, I discovered your Channel about a month ago... I was diagnosed with pre type 2 diabetes in June,,, I immediately started being proactive,,, in the past few months I lost a lot of weight and went on a plant based diet... It was working but last week I saw your three day Keto recipes for diabetes...I did this for the past week and my Readings dropped 16 points ! I am Averaging about a 95-100 fasting reading and 101-115 post meal! Thank you so much for putting such great info out there!!
After a heart bypass 5+years ago I went plant based and it didnt "fix" anything, Kept the same meds, A1C stayed the same, fatty liver remained, and heart ejection fraction stayed at 37% Went to keto (20 total carbs) and in 9 months Fatty liver was gone, A1C went from 6.3 to 5.2, Ejection fraction raised to 48% and all meds were gone
@@johnsonpaul1914 Glad to see I wasn't an anomaly. My Sugars weren't horrendous on Plant based, and I was losing weight, but just wasn't where I thought I could/ should be. One week of Keto and My Weight loss was double the rate it was on Plant based and my Blood sugars were Awesome.
@@sereyahchozen1423 There are literally hundreds. On you tube search for "beat diabetes" or Dr. Ken Berry, or Dr Sarah Halberg at Virta Health. Simple rules for keto--Eat any animal product except the milk part of dairy (the cream is fine). For those animal products the fattier is generally the better. Eat any plant product that is not a seed, grain, fruit, or root
(Harry here) This is something I've been toying with getting. I just might step over the threshold and pick one up. I feel that since I made my goal weight on keto / psmf I'm looking into these type of things to see what is going on inside my body. A little late to the party but wow what a great tool to use.
All the info I've gathered has taught me to read the ingredients on everything and it's very tiring when I get something from my health store and find it has hidden bad ingredients because at that moment of buying I didn't feel like reading again. :( Just shows big companies are not worried about people but more of the bottom dollar. I found a creamer called Laird's and it was wonderful. Now I can't find it but did find a Laird's coffee with creamer and the ingredients somehow spiked the carbs from 1 g to 19 g. Ugh. Thanks for continuing to teach us Kait. ♥
Got 2 Nutri Sense ads while watching this vid. It would be really nice to have this. I'm not diabetic, just old, but I agree with how this can be SO important. Found your channel recently. Before this I watched Dr. Sten Ekberg a lot.
That's pretty cool, gonna ask my doctor if we do that here in nz,for a diabetic it'll be great to see where I'm going wrong and what I can do to correct my eating habits 😊
Thank U. Simply put, one of your best if not best information videos you have created, thank I Kait. U R so correct about Doctors unwilling to prevent a problem even if you are not diabetic. It appears to me that some doctors would prefer you become a diabetic so you become a repeat customer. I must update my phone so I can track my information with a CGM. Thanks again. Very very interesting!!
Some day these will be available at retail, affordable and common place; like pulse ox, blood pressure monitors etc. another big invention that must be in its way is insulin measurement.
I have been wearing a CGM for 6 weeks now. I have been able to move from Type 2 to pre diabetes, also losing 7 pounds. I will continue to wear as it keeps me accountable and let’s me see foods that aren’t so great.
@@dkearl6827 Hello I wear a Dexcom 6. My insurance covers it with a doctors prescription. My copay is $70 for 90 days an additional $70 for the transmitter. In all $140 per 90 days.
I haven't tried one yet. Been looking at which one is best. Now that you did NutriSense I will try it. I'm very interested to see how sleep, exercise and different foods affect my glucose levels during a day.
Enjoyed your video I just got Nutrisense last week. Interesting. I’m unsure what my baseline level should be. Mine runs in high 90s. The coach said anything under 140 is ok but I am ketovore and most people I hear talk are in 80s or lower. I am 65 yo down 50 pounds but stalled for months so I got this to see what I’m eating that effects it. I like your information will be listening more
I love corn tortillas, but it impacts me so much. I'm doing to order a tortilla press so I can make my own Keto tortillas. Thank you for this video. Getting a glucose monitoring sensor has really helped me. Cheers. 💓
Yes, I used one for a month. I participated in a study for a product being developed by a company called Viome (for gut health) on a special gluten free diet for breakfast and dinner, then I could eat anything for dinner. It was so interesting to see how my glucose levels changed and had nothing to do with gluten. I will get one again, does the one you’re talking about measures your ketones?
Hi Kait, I love your channel! Thank you for all the great info! In this video you Talk about orange juice- and I would like to know which effect oranges have that are not juice? It is the season and I Love them so much :-)
Hello Kait love the cats in your videos they're awesome. Lots of information today. I will consider a glucose monitor. I already monitor my INR at home because i take warfarin a blood thiner because i have an artificial heart valve.
What is the cost? For everything: device, app, whatever you need up front and also over time. I went to the site, but couldn't get anywhere without a sign up. I have zero tolerance for that game. There is no way to even ask a question. Nice informative video, Kait.
I currently am wearing a libre 2 that I cot through an org like the one you got yours. I asked my dr if I cold get one , but she felt I didn’t need one. My a1c is no longer in a pre or diabetic range. But I feel that the cgm would give me a better idea of what is happening when I eat. I like you was so excited to get it, but now after 3 weeks …hmm. It so much. The first sensor went crazy and died early, the second sensor has had some out of whack reading also. So For now I’m still checking with the old method as backup. I hush hope that the rumors are true that apple is looking to but a non invasive glucose monitor on a future watch model.
HCK, I recently learned that tea w/milk (or milk substitute) not only negate the benefits of the tea & spikes our glucose. Hope that helps P.S. the statement that the expert made was in reference to green tea - sorry that I don't recall the reference off the top of my head. Hope this helps~
Hi!! I loved this type of video!! Very interesting!!! No i haven't used a CGM before... I have a question not very relevant to the video. I have started keto and i feel constipated. Is there something i can do? Love you!!!
I’ve been using a libre for the past 8 weeks. It was really useful to start with but the last two sensors have been reading 04-1.0 mM higher than my finger prick Neo. Given that that CGM is $95 for two weeks this will be the last one! I notice that there’s a dual glucose/ketone CM in design so I’m waiting to try that one when it’s available.
Just an FYI your blood reading will always show changes earlier than a CGM so that might explain variance! Here is a good video explaining it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d9UzbC7pf4E.html This is why you should only recalibrate when you test your fasting levels.
@@HealthCoachKait Thanks Kait. I’m well aware of that. There’s around a 15 minute delay between serum/blood glucose and interstitial glucose but my last two CGMs have been very different to my first six.
How has it held up in the shower? I have a physical job and sweat (gross I know) quite a bit so I wonder how well it would stay on or what happens if it gets knocked off by accident. Don't forget about the dawn effect since in many folks your body raises you glucose early in the morning to getting ready for the day...thats why I check two hours after waking.
Yep, dawn effect is important to note and one of the reasons why CGMs are so great. You can see when it started to rise (and that is was hopefully low all night before that).
You can order the libra 2 from Amazon and your phone can be used as the monitor. It gives continuous readings and you can input how many g’s of carbs you’ve eaten and exercise taken. It gives a daily average and a log book. It also has low and high alarms and gives you an average Hba1c reading. The downside is the patches only last 2 weeks and they are not cheap
So from my experience on ketovore my fasting blood sugar was about 97 and it went to about 138 1 hour after eating but now I’m following paul Saladinos diet with about 70-100 clean carbs per day and my fasting blood sugar dropped to 86 and after eating it’s about 132 🤷♀️
i saw the huge thick needle that would be in my arm and saw the wound it would leave and said nope, not for me. how do you sleep at night? wont the stabbing pain wake you up as you toss and turn?
The sensors only last two weeks so I haven’t used nutrisense for a few months 😔 but still recommend! Ugh does it not?! Let me reach out and see if I can organise a new one.
After some blueberries, your blood glucose went up to 7. what? I’ve only ever seen my blood glucose go above 7 on a handful of occasions and it’s usually after cake or pizza or some other dumb sh*t I shouldn’t have eaten.
Fruit is very problematic for people with insulin resistance and diabetes. This is why even non-diabetics are told to eat a whole fruit, not fruit juice. The whole fruit has fiber which can mitigate the blood sugar response. Adding fat, like a whipped cream can also help, but then you've added in calories. It's tough finding things you want to eat when you have blood sugar issues. For instance, a fruit smoothie will send my blood sugar to the sky.
With Keto, the thing I find most difficult is that it really DOES feel like one cheat day or even meal "ruins" your diet, becuase you have to get yourself back into ketosis. I know it might only take a couple days to recoup, but it still feels (in the moment) like a way bigger failure (for lack of better words) than if you are just on a general diet restricting calories or trying to avoid certain types of foods or sweets. For example, some meal plans I've gotten for bulking up at the gym include 2 meals a week where you can do a "cheat meal" of your choosing, which adds some flexibility or things to look forward to. With keto (the longest stretch I lasted was five months) it just is hard to get back on after falling off. Or, it's easier at least to tell yourself it's harder.
Yes, exactly. It's definitely harder to get back on, even when you got off inadvertently. I had some chicken salad, and boom, I'm out of ketosis. I don't know what component did it; I bought it pre-made. It seems like the body gets really good at stashing away sugar when it gets a chance. I know from experience that it will take a while to get back in. So I too definitely recommend just staying strictly on the plan if you need to be in ketosis for health reasons like I do.
Reach out to your community & insurance. I use the Dexcom G6 n love it! Im hypoglycemic w/o early symptoms (super scary n dangerous). Primary care doc gave me the run around; but practically threw meds at me ... yeah, I fired him! Best wishes & stay encouraged
Well damn I didn't even think this would be a complaint 😅 I believe something like 90% of the world's population has a smart phone so I am sorry to hear you are in the minority.
garbage. if you can manually calibrate them then you can change them to numbers you like... i would have liked to see the numbers compared to your meter when you ate tacos
I am reviewing a product I truly see value in that can help a lot of people. I only work with brands that I use and back 100%. I think Nutrisense is doing amazing things and couldn't really fault them for anything. If you don't like my content you are more than welcome to watch other channels instead 🤗
