Contractions are used all the time in English speech and generally make speech sound much more fluent. It is one of the things that gives it flow! Some non-native English speakers may worry that the use of contractions will make their speech sound too colloquial in professional situations, but the truth is these are used in all settings - formal and informal - even though we would not usually find them in formal written English.
