Welcome back everybody! I hope you all enjoy the first PlayStation 5 review for this channel! I loved retuning to Control. This is one game I've wanted to cover here since I started Kirk Collects (I want to get to all the Remedy games eventually) and being able to re-experience it with some new graphical bells and whistles was a treat. I'm curious, what sort of things do you guys want out of a PS5 review? For example, I pondered whether I should judge certain aspects like how well the DualSense controller is implemented, is that sort of thing important to you? Be sure to let me know in the comments and also don't forget to tell me your thoughts on Control! Control was such a fresh breath of air. It immediately catapulted into my top 5 fav games and I sincerely hope we'll see more of the FBC and its surrounding universe.
Control Was my game of the year last year and confirmed that everything Remedy makes just makes me fall in love with them more, specially now that they have confirmed that they have 5 new games in development as of right now. I have been replaying the game on the Xbox Series S and even tho it's not a huge upgrade compared to the Series X or PS5 it still runs well. There is no ray tracing in the Series S version only performance mode, but I don't mind it honestly. The smooth gameplay of 60FPS is enough for me to still love the hell out of this game again and since achievements are locked again I can happily play through the game again and unlocked them again.
@@KIRKCOLLECTS Agreed. With that said I would highly recommend everyone to play it either on Series X or PS5 in the end, if they get the chance anyway. It just runs allot better obviously due to how much more power both Series X and PS5 have compared to the Series S, specially considering the game is only running at 900P for the Series S just to have a pretty much locked 60fps. Yet again if you can look pass that it still does far better then the past gen versions of Control.
I bought Control for the graphics and finished it for the gameplay and story.... and graphics This game sure is a blast. I only miss me some more different enemy types. After a while most fights feel kinda same
I played through it last year on my laptop and kept me occupied for hours on end . But like you said Max Payne 1 and 2 are also amongst my favourites .
@@KIRKCOLLECTS To get more views, have you tried posting your video either to the Control Steam community hub or PS forums? Seems like low hanging fruit there. Same with the other videos you made. You're not TOO good for a bit of self promotion... ^_^
@@KIRKCOLLECTS Ha! It's possible, I don't know. I figured PS would have organized some sort of community area for their games, maybe not. I would recommend the GDC talks by Chris Zukowski: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EMGTcgsEN68.html.
Amazing concept, great graphics even with perfromacen mode, steady 60 fps. I normally don't get DLC trophies but I went in all. Look forward to see sequal!
I'm now seeing this ultimate edition at a nice price. But I wonder, since it's a sep5versiin, what will happen with the save games. Because I remember having 2 version of horizon zero dawn. A digital and disk version. The free digital version would not see the save games from the disk version Now months later it seems it does. I wonder if this control PS4 version will transfer save games to ultimate edition PS5. I still have all the dlc as well from PS4. But seems those are also separate for PS5 as I understand this video. Ps you said 2 dlc mission, but there are 3 actually
I still dont know if i truly like the twist in the DLC but there is something special about this game, crappy writing notwithstanding. The world feels so unearthly and sentient. I got a lot of Twin Peaks the Return kinda cosmic horror vibe. It unnerved me so much like the Return I had to stop thinking about it. The gameplays pretty exciting though I get burnt out on the sensory overload of how it looks. Hard to place what makes this game special, but thats Remedy for you.
Guess I'll have to play this on pc game pass cause I can't even get a next gen console, not cause I don't have the money but cause they impossible to get without making it another full time job.
I hear ya, it's frustrating how difficult they are to find. Have you tried twitter? I followed a page that gave notices on drops, that's how I was able to get mine.
It's such a shame that my eyes just cannot deal with the multicoloured chromatic aberration-ish effects that sprays all over the place during combat. I don't know what it is about it - my eyes just bork out and I get a splitting headache. I can't stand "normal" chromatic aberration in games either and if I can't turn it off I have to stop playing. :(
Game looks decent, but is definitely no Max Payne. Max Payne 2 is likely Remedy's best game, plus it supports some great mods. Shame Max Payne stayed with Rockstar. They could do an Alan Wake sequel though. Trepang2 finally got an update, so it is alive. Plus there was another FEAR/Black looking FPS revealed this week using UE4. Some small Swedish dev who made a top down shooter.
I have so much love and nostalgia for Max Payne 1 and 2. One of the reasons I enjoyed Control is that I could feel the DNA of those games in it. That's great for Trepang2, it was looking pretty grim there for a second.
@KIRK COLLECTS, Gmanlives did a video for a Max Payne 2 mod that turns it into the Punisher and that looked wicked fun. Definitely based off the Xbox/PS2 Punisher game from the devs who did Red Faction and Saints Row. Might give Control a try as they gave it for free on PS Plus but I hear the PS4/PS4 Pro version does not run well compared to the next gen and pc versions. Quantum had potential but they messed up badly. Game felt more like it wanted to be a movie than an actual game. Think you'll cover any Doom mods? That's a very deep rabbit hole, but often full of great stuff like Brutal Doom or Project brutality. What'd you think of that new Aliens Fireteam game? Wish it was 1st person.
Yeah I watched that vid, looked interesting, made me want to replay Max Payne 2 more than anything. It doesn’t, but it’s still worth adding to the library in case you upgrade to the 5. I really do think it’s something a Remedy fan should play. I’ve been thinking about it but like you said it’s a rabbit hole. Maybe I’ll try one and see what the response is. I think it looks cool! A L4D style aliens games is a great idea. I wouldn’t mind it be first person either but I think the stain of colonial marines necessitates a different approach. Crossing my fingers it’s good,
@KIRK COLLECTS, Need buy Max Payne during a Steam sale, used to have the discs lol. PS5, Xbox Series X, or pc is the way to go from what I've read from gamer reviews. So, maybe one day I will. Yeah, it really is a very deep rabbit hole. But not all of them are good or as dedicated as Brutal Doom or Project Brutality. Only took the dive for those and Trench Foot because we got no great Warhammer 40k FPS game, especially one where you play as an Imperial Guardsmen. Not a knock at Space Hulk or that upcoming Co op game, but come on GW... As long as Aliens Fireteam isn't like Outriders, I'll keep an eye on it. Aliens Colonial Marines was bad, but the AVP games weren't. Sad to see the devs who made cool games like Painkiller and Bulletstorm make yet another 3rd person Looter shooter.
I beat this game using a $200 laptop. Playing on ultra settings. It seem only mouse and keyboard user could do the jump and hurling an object at the enemy with ease. Controller on ps5 would struggle to aim. Check my latest video upload to see the gameplay.
