( 1:26 Horipad) ( 5:44 NS Pro Controller) ( 9:23 Joy-Cons) ( 11:33 CuleedTec Adapter+DS4 Controller) 2 things, made a typo and called the joycons pro controller :( but the price is correct. And I been informed the cheap hori controller fat dpad can be removed, from my quick testing due to the groove its a bit restricted but def accurate when pressing since its 4 separate buttons like the joycon. So its something to try if you don't have big thumbs and you don't have a big budget. I was able to do the ending for singing passion with it but with a lot more difficulty but its doable
@@thatdankhusbando3144I agree that DS4 adapter is the best way to play the game since Project Diva has the natural feel for PS4 controller. However, not all Nintendo controllers are wack. Yes, some stuff are harder or more annoying to execute on Nintendo controllers, but it is possible to be up to par with DS4 controller. Why would I say that? I am mostly a Pro Controller player, and I started Project Diva 8 months ago, which is also my first introduction as a new time Vocaloid fan, and my hardest difficulty is 9.5 on both Extreme and Extra Extreme. Some songs are easy to do on it and some are more annoying. But it shows you that Pro Controller can do their work. In my opinion however, there are some stuff that are almost hard or impossible to do on NS Pro. For example, lightning fast spam (like Betty the Liar Ex Ex spam or Mousou Sketch Ex Ex spam), and really fast and long 270’s or 360’s (Grumpy Waltz Ex Ex, Intense Voice both difficulties, Negaposi*Continues Extreme). Some stuff are more annoying to do on Pro Controller but are possible, like long strings of multi note patterns (Ex: I perfected Leia Ex Ex with NS Pro, and is one of my proudest accomplishments, and I also perfected How’d It Get to Be Like This on Extreme.) or small lightning spam sections (Mousou Sketch Extreme and Bring It On Extreme). Also in my opinion, there are some songs in which it is almost required to use JoyCon grip than Pro Controller due to high technical demands some charts have. For example, some 10 star charts that I think are almost possible to do on NS Pro could be songs like Sadistic Music Factory or even songs like World’s End Dancehall Ex Ex. However, once you start moving into Intense Voice territory and above, you practically have to be an accuracy machine in order to perfect them on Pro Controller. And while the buttons are smaller on JoyCon grip and the macros are a little different of feel, I feel it is more possible to perfect the charts on JoyCon grip than on NS Pro. And while many don’t recommend to wear and tear your JoyCons for Project Diva, I think that JoyCon grip controller is undoubtedly the best Nintendo controller to use for this game and is almost up to par with the DS4. I mean, someone literally perfected Intense Voice Ex Ex with a JoyCon grip, which imo is a godly accomplishment. It just depends on what works for you. I know I typed a whole ass novel but hopefully you understand my point. :)
i actually learned how to play like that awhile back because i saw him do it!! it basically took me a few days to completely relearn how to play but its worth it LMAO
@@AbiasO3 you just pull it up lol, its like a circle and then you can stick it on the back. and then if you wanna use it again you just take it off the back and put it on the dpad again
I grew up on playstation and nintendo. When i first held an xbox one controller instead of a dualshock4, my brain and hands just couldnt handle it. It just felt so blocky to me. I dunno
I love the switch pro controller. in the last couple years I've started having cramping and pain in my wrists/fingers if I play for long periods of time (especially with more input intensive stuff like rhythm and fighting games) and the pro controller is the most comfortable controller I've used in a long time. I can play for longer sessions with minimal pain with it and it's a godsend to me because of that. it is expensive but worth every penny for my achy hands lol
@@Geo-st4jv Xbox One Elite Controller (v1 & v2) FTW. I absolutely love both of them (currently use v2 because I can adjust the tension with thumbsticks for sliders or when using them in quick succession can sometimes register the other way when it flicks back). I highly and I mean highly recommend this controller. I own all major controllers (PS4, Nintendo Switch Lite w/ Pro controller, Xbox) and Elite controller is easily best IMO
Yo hisokeee, you can remove the d-pad on the hori and there are proper buttons underneath (the weird hole on the back of the controller is for storing the circular dpad when it’s not in use). Idk if the buttons would be particularly better, as the whole set of buttons is somewhat awkwardly recessed into the controller without the circle pad, but it’s probably worth a shot.
Looking at how you can use multiple controllers at once makes me want to see him playing songs co-op with someone where they take turns with someone or each person presses different buttons! 😆😆😆
I tried playing PPD With the Nintendo switch Pro Controller, it worked pretty fine for me, just had to get adjusted to things and i'm good to go, also I think the d-pad thing on the switch Pro Controller is pretty good and it's really amazing definitely not awful, but maybe could have been adjusted a little better so playing Project Diva on it would be may be a bit easier to probably get adjusted to for those people this time around. But maybe aside from that of course the D-pad thing on the switch Pro Controller is still pretty good and it's still really amazing. :) (I pretty much like to see someone reply on this comment this time around just see if they actually think about their opinions with using their controllers and stuff, signed~ ATJF.)
this was extremely helpful but I'm just wondering how severe is the wear and tear that project diva can have on a controller? I don't have much budget to buy a new controller so would I expect to need to replace my joycons in the future from playing project diva?
Thanks so much hisokee, i changed the input lag and y improve from 60 goods to 10-3 goods i didn't think, that could change too much, sorry for my english.
one thing you should check again. it gives a extra plastic holder for the joy-cons. that should give you more grip as a normally controller. i like that personly
ps3=PDF2nd JP if possible otherwise ENG is fine, There are custom songs in this game so lots of songs to play and jp has more custom songs. PS4=Future tone 224+ songs
WHAT 100$? Here it's at 60€?! Anyways I prefer the pro controller as it doesn't hurt my wrist for some reason and the PS4 controller does so yeah so much better
I use the joycons (with the grip of course) for all 10 rhythm games I currently have on the switch (I don't have mega 39 though since FT is just better), the separated buttons on both sides makes it pretty much impossible to missinput anything. I use the hori controller featured in this video in every other game, since it's actually quite good for those. But yeah the joycons have helped me get many full combos in Taiko, Groove Coaster, Muse Dash and more. They're pretty much perfect except for the L and R buttons, those are awful but I can just use ZL and ZR instead, which actually function properly lol.
yeah no the pro controller is fine for easy mode songs, and thats about it. i found that out the hard way as a newbie PD player (mega 39 is the first PD game ive ever played) when i finally got comfortable with easy songs and bumped up to hard mode. i was wondering if i was just bad but no. native switch controllers are not responsive enough to play mega 39 in any difficulty past normal. Ive just been using my joycons since i dont have the money to afford a new PS4 controller and adapter, but i dont have a grip either so ive gotten surprisingly good at playing with my hands separate. happy i watched this bc ive been wondering how the dualshock would perform with an adapter for switch
I personally really like the joycon grip with mega39 the buttons are separate and feel nice, also same kinda buttons on each side so alternating feels real nice (imo) I have small(?) hands so the small close together buttons work for me, but I could see it not working for someone with bigger hands
Yeah, the joycons with the grip are fantastic for the game, I actually ended up liking them more than the DS4. What makes them great is that the Dpad is actually 4 separate buttons instead of just a covered up Dpad like the DS4 so it's perfect for the game. The only issue is that the buttons are really small so if you have bigger hands it probably isn't great for you, but otherwise it's perfect.
1 question, are japan rankings better than western ones? For example if i have 2 goods and i'm 3rd in the rankings, in japan would be the same or there they are much more better than in the western version? I ask this because im getting very quickly in the top 10 in rankings in america i have 10 songs more or less from 10 to 3 position, i hope this would be understable.
Sorry my comment is late. I use the Pro Controller for Project Diva Megamix, and sometimes it isn't the best choice for ExEx or Ex. The position of your thumb and "Tilt" the Dpad into a different direction and get you a wrong. You gotta press securely in one direction in order to avoid a wrong.😃😃
@@hisokeee I'm not sure if you can on yours but you literally just pull it off. No it's not a mod. I have one my self because the pro controller is super overpriced. It looks like yours can do it but I'm not sure if there are other versions.
before i got a ps4 with future tone, i tried to take diva seriously with joycons (no controller grip sometimes), or, occasionally, the wired pikachu controller for nintendo switch. i got my first extreme perfect with them... somehow...
The Original Nintendo Switch Pro controller has that D-Pad drift issue for ex, when u press Right, i'll accidentally think u pressing up or down. U gotta open it up and playing a 4 piece tape to the pivic of the D-Pad and issue will be fix. This is a common issue with it. This is a internal issue
Is there another option for a ps4 controller adapter? The one you have linked is sold out and I honestly have no idea what I'm looking for when I'm searching on amazon :( Also, do you have any tips for figuring out your input lag? I'm having a Time trying to figure out the delay on my TV with my joycons. Thank you!
I have heard of 8 bit do adapter but it is bluetooth only while the one i linked is both usb and bluetooth. Input lag can not be changed, that setting ingame offsets the music only. So you have to play on a better monitor or enable game mode if you havent already on your tv to reduce lag
@@hisokeee Oh, i see! that makes a lot of sense about the lag, because nothing I did seemed to help. Guess I'll stick to handheld until I can get a capture card for my laptop! Thank you :]
Did you mod that DS4 in any way to keep it from imputing random diagonals if you wiggle a d-pad button or hit it from the wrong angle? Both of the ones I have have done that since they were brand new, it's very annoying.
Hmm I believe you may just need a bit more practice, I've been through multiple ds3 and ds4 and I found its always been my fault when I miss on the dpad. Then again it may also have to do with how you grip the controller since everyone's hand size is different. I suggest recording your hands while playing with the gameplay somehow so you can see when you make a mistake what you did wrong. It helps a ton when I was first starting out
Do I have to have the pro controller first before buying the adapter for a DS4? I only have the joycons but I would LOVE to use a DS4 for Miku on switch as well as Groove Coaster
Has anyone tried playing Mega Mix with either the Retro Bit Sega Genesis/Sega Saturn or 8BitDo SN30/SF30 Pro controllers? I am honestly tempted to try playing them that way when I get the chance, and I am wondering what anyone who has tried that's experience with them is?
Ik I'm almost a year late but I can confirm I play solely on my switch lite and while some stuff feels impossible (intense voice and disappearance extreme) with double spam and 3 notes, it could also be my inexperience. D pad is rough to fat thumb tho
Hey hiso (or anybody) i have a question... I don't have a ps4 and, is there a problem if i need to charge the ds4 or does it stay charged with the adaptor being connected to the console? :(
It takes time to learn as hiso said everyone takes a different amount of time to learn I been playing alittle over a year and I cant get the reverse 360s down yet on Intense Voice its alittle too fast of a swap for me
Regarding the Pro controller, it is horrendous due to how sensitive it is. There is an easy mod for those of you brave enough to disassemble it. Requirement: -some tape -a Philip screwdriver -10-20 minutes of your time The video I used to learn how to disassemble the Pro controller: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FRX-C7kjy4Y.html Here's how to fix the sensitivity issue: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Kaw_CMd8eM4.html Hopefully, this helps some of y'all.
The real question; will they eventually port these songs that aren't in Future Tone? I don't want to buy this on Switch only for it to have less songs than Future Tone, especially after I bought all the packs. I'd be willing to buy a Mega Mix pack, but not willing to do all that again on the Switch.
HI IF YOU'RE READING THIS PLEASE HELP ME. I'm buying a switch soon and don't know what controllers to get for mega 39s. It looks like either the last adapter one is the best option with joycons in second. But, I don't have a ps4 and don't know what to buy if I go with the first option, or if it's even worth it. If you have any advice, please let me know!
try joycons first and if it really bugs you then buy the ps4 controller + the adapter but I would probably try to test it out first before u spend all that money. some people still dont like the feel of the ps4 controller
I have tiny fingers so I don't activate the diagonal on the pro so I often use that but because of my small hands I like using the joycons too so I switch back and forth depending on if the sing has slide notes or not
Hello Im a beginner with this game and I dont really like playing with the joycon lol also this is my first miku game ever what would be the best controller I plan on taking it seriously and I have a budget ?
I would test a ps4 controller from a friends house if you never tried it before. If you like it then buying the adapte+ps4 controller would be my recommendation. but the combined price would be a bit more than a pro controller from nintendo
I busted my pro controllers d pad playing tetris 99, surviving two whole ex songs without reducing that overpriced pieace of plastic to dust is an achievement
i like playing mega mix with the joycon controller because the buttons are small and easy to press, idk how I do it but I do, the pro controller is too wide for me to play, the buttons are spaced a little too far apart for me lol
hisokeee I had bought the 8Bitdo switch adapter a few days ago on amazon. Should I return that and buy the adapter you recommended? I saw the one you showed has a USB port on it
hisokeee yea the 8bitdo has got probably between a quarter and half a second of delay. It’s pretty not cool lol. If I used the one you recommended and with usb, do I still need to do the minus 5 on the delay with Mega Mix?
I picked up the 8BitDo adapter to pair the DualShock 4 controller but even after adjusting the offset, that slight input delay is hard to play with imo.
@@hisokeee oh sick, I'll have to try that. Do you think the wired option would work with the model 1 DS4 or just model 2? (Thanks again, you've been an amazing help with all things Mega39s)
I tried to learn 360s using your video, but now I can do this only in "This is Happiness and what's the name of that committee idk" and only ignoring the other charts. So, sliding on Joy-Con is now the easiest way to do this 4 me
I saw the dpad, its a cross like the pro controller, so it may not be the best but I do not have one so I cannot give you sure answer. At the least you can connect any controller to it so if it turns out to suck, you have backup plan
@@hisokeee yeah, that was the idea if I feel so horrible the Mini experience. Also thanks for the answer, I didn't know it was the same dpad as the pro controller. Btw Hiso, did you know about the new Arcade pannel to Mega 39's? It's pretty sick. I saw it on a channel called NihongoGamer if you didn't know about it.
the only downside I have heard with that adapter is it is bluetooth only, and compared to the one I have it allows usb option. As long you are not playing too far from the switch and you don't notice too much of a delay you should be good. I've had different opinions on it people complaining it drops inputs or adds too much delay to play seriously and other people saying its been fine for them
I'm using the MagicNS adapter with my switch to use a DS4 on it, and I can't even feel a difference to FT on PS4, concerning input delay. Also, fuck asymmetrical sticks.
I always see that your handcam is faster than the game, and the sound of the game is later than the video. I hope you can fix it man, it's so annoying for me to watch your video like that (well if you can't it's ok)
As he said in the video you buy a adapter. If you rewatch when he was doing the PS4 controller test it shows the adapter not the controller before he started the test
