Fan animatic because I like the song. Never made something so self-indulgent, had a lot of fun. Here's a video with some process type stuff • Controller Scraps / ari_dango ariidango@gmail.com
Wow... I'm 45 years old in a few months, and this song was one of my formative songs as a teenager in the 90's. This video really captures the kind of imagery I always pictured with this track. Awesome work!
"They had different instrumentation - more of a theatrical experience and a funny way of being a rock spectacle. Something about the rhythm sounded like weird animation music." -Tim Burton on Danny Elfman's music, and I couldn't agree more! One of my favorite tracks, thank you for giving it this incredible animation!
Seriously! I've never seen that quote but in my imagination all the songs have these strange animations and I'm just shocked Danny elfman never had official animated music videos for his songs, it's such a shame! Luckily with some digging, the fans have at least made up for that with some of their own creativity and talent :D
this has such "music video you make in your head" energy, and by that I mean it's really good!! Personally love the colors. Phenomenal job, hat's off to you!!
Really captures the manic nature of the song! I like the animation, it really brings a new dimension. I thought it was an official video but this is just as good!
I'M SCREAMING WHY ISN'T THIS MORE POPULAR??? EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING THE WAY YOU EMPHASIZE THE CHARACTER'S EMOTIONS SOLELY THROUGH EXAGGERATED POSES IS SO AMAZING DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE DESIGN, DETAILS, AND PERSONALITY WITHIN THE CHARACTERS & BACKGROUNDS I AM SERIOUSLY THIS CLOSE TO WRITING AN ENTIRE ESSAY ON EVERYTHING WITHIN THIS, GREAT JOB DUDE 👏👏👏
This is such a great video that feels so true to the style, message, and spirit of oingo boingo. The segment at the end with the surgeons and singing protagonist left me with a wide smile. Amazing job
THIS IS ASTOUNDING!!! I adore the colors, the expressive movement and detailed environments! I audibly gasped when the surgeons started playing the instruments. So cool!!!
God I love this. Not to be a nerd but like, the composition of every scene is so incredible?? Your art really complements the narrative so well. I loved all the locks and the wall of moose heads staring down at your character, it really solidifies the paranoia of the song!! So good!!
This is fantastic!! I love Oingo Boingo and this perfectly captures what I'd like to see. The faceless surgeon designs and architecture stuff is phenomenal :D
god what a magnificent video. it's like every keyframe could be an entire work of art on its own. if i could fill my house with character & environment design as good as this i'd live a happy life
It probably wasn’t intentional on your part but your artstyle with Oingo Boingo reminds me of Thoth’s artstyle from JoJo, which is appropriately a reference to Oingo Boingo. Still a good animation, regardless
I love this song and your animation was amazing! Gives me a slight Ralph Steadman vibe but still unique and a bit cleaner and less abstract. I'm sure I'll be rewatching this many more times to come. In my head I always imagined the events of the book "We" by Yevgeniy Zamyatin, which heavily inspired Orwell's 1984. Now I'm gonna imagine your animation as well. I loved the paranoid zoom into the eye of the taxidermied animals watching on the wall, and the main character's head being all eyes is really cool symbolism for his state of mind. The way you portrayed the faceless surgeons as lovecraftian abominations was awesome, I always just imagined Doctors with soulless eyes and surgical masks ready to perform a lobotomy like the end of the book "We". Very creative and cool.
OH THIS. this is one of the best AMVs i've seen in a while. The lack of animation frames is almost unoticeable with how much mivement all of this has, and the character designs are beyond coolness, very funky in the best way possible--
This is too good to exist for a band that broke up 35 years ago or so. Also, as a side note, you do oneyplays fanimations as well as listen to oingo boingo? That's almost the 12th time i've seen that coincidence, not including myself. Weird correlation.
This was awesome, I love how you added to the song with all the neat environment designs and perspective. Is the ending implying this has probably happened before? Since that was the same body and all. Just curious!
He's in a non linear purgatory where this kind of thing happens all the time. So (Pictures Of You "this has happened before"). His body splits and needs to be reconnected to leave the house, neither half is very functional on its own. & thank you for the kind words
Amazing work! The movements of the character look so alive and plastic. And I absolutely love the style and atmosphere of the animatic. It is a pity that you have so few fans, but I wish you good luck and creative growth!
Such an incredible video! I really like your unusual style, so many different elements and small things combine into something very unique! You've killed it with this vid dawg!!!
Huge boingo fan and this almost perfectly captures what I, and most likely many others, imagine with this music. Tim Burton/Dr. Suess visuals, abstract colors, rough effects and intense emotions. Great job!
Really cool shots and backgrounds in this, dude. I can tell you took your time on this and it shows! Thanks for showing some love to one of my favorite bands
That was proper banging. The world, bounciness of animation, colours, everything was just so perfect!! Most of all the cinematography was incredible - to have it be so elaborate and vibrant in an animatic too... This is so impressive!! Amazing work!!
I think oingo boingo from when they were the mystic knights til 1983 with good for your soul was the perfect era for oingo boingo and my favourite I wasn't a fan of dead man's party or boi-ngo but I love the first three albums and especially only a lad and this is legendary this music video now when I listen to it I always picture this
Omg why am I just now seeing this masterpiece??? This is truly amazing, and I absolutely adore all the unique perspectives and details! This video is insanely good, it definitely needs more views and likes!
