Meeting others and Gumi is not building bridges, but Obi trying to understand different perspectives on how to tackle the problems he would inherit if elected. People have to realise that Peter Obi is a wise man.
Obi has been part of this government for so long that he doesn't know what the problem of Nigeria is, then how will he know when he is president? What has Peter Obi done so far for you guys to think he can fix this country? What does Peter Obi know about security to be able to tackle Nigeria's biggest problem? He said he will deal with it decisively, that he will negotiate with whoever is agitated and that he will deal with the rest that don’t need negotiations, so he is very right on track. if he become the president and start killing bandits, people will come out and say he is killing Muslims so it is better to start bringing them close now. Obi visiting Gumi, I don't see any crime in that. Remember Obi was in Kaduna state for a program anchor by Arewa(Northerners). A leader listen not going against people's will. Obi is trying to listening in others to tackle issues around insecurity in that region.
Obi is very international about fixing security issues in the country. He may need people like Gume, who knows? I may be biase (my bad!), but I don't make a big deal from the visit.
But if Tinubu or Atiku had visited the man u folks previously called terrorists, it would have become a big deal. Internet warriors would be out in full false calling them horrible names. I see a Trumpian tactics here

Let's wait for Peter Obi's strategy and what he aims to achieve with his visits then we can judge him. For the other candidates, they have shown incompetence in many regards hence the reason people will judge their every word and action. Not same for PO.
Who gave Gumi money to negotiate with the bandits? If he can have access to the bandits what is the government doing? He is living as a free man in mainland Nigeria. Sheik Gumi is clearly a stakeholder in the security issues in the North. He has been accompanied several times by Nigeria's Security personnel under APC to visit Bandits. Obi's visit is to understand Gumi's perspective on the security challenges. This will enable him add this to other perspectives in order to get a permanent solution to the security challenges of Nigeria.
Personally, I didn't like seeing Peter Obi visit the controversial Sheikh Gumi. I feel he's one of those who need to be arrested to end this insecurity problems in the north but if Peter insists on being a president to all, then let's see how this goes.
The visit of H.E PETER OBI to the controvercial Islamic cleric ordinarily looks condemnable. But in the other way round, I see it as been smart. Now Peter Obi has always maintained that he will have dialogue with any group that is agitating but that if any group after discussion poses as criminals, he will be decisive about handling them. Secondly, if there is any candidate among the 3 that is considered to be an enemy to the Fulanis, and held by that tribe to be their enemy, it's Peter Obi. His selective visit to a seemingly anchor man to the group, I perceive is to disorient and change that perception. You may visit a perceived enemy at first for negotiation and that first visit determines the next action. In as much as the visit looks condemnable, there are valid intentions to unit and have peace towards his tenure as the coming president of Nigeria and it starts now. Finally, Peter Obi has not at any time, taken any body as an enemy, even those criticizing and trying to destroy his image. Gumi may not be seen by him from a different perspective.
