ROTATING VANE APPARATUS
In this video you will be learning how to demonstrate the effect of convection currents in air.
This model can be used in science exhibitions / science fairs etc.
And also teachers can use this model to demonstrate the effect of convection currents in air in their class room / Science lab.
Q.Why the vane or fan is rotating?
Physics Behind:
When the candles are lit, the air in the vicinity of the candles heated and being lighter the air rises and causes the cold air to move out and sink. This movement causes the vane to rotate. Thus it indicates the flow of convection currents in an upward direction.

Sir why paper is moving in circular motion only ??? If the hot air is moving upward then why doesn't paper flew in upward direction???

Because of resultant force, it begins to move either clock wise or anti clockwise and continue to move because of inertia of motion and continuous resultant force. It don’t flew upward or away, because the hot Air Force is not so strong to do so.

If you are using full length of pencil, then candle length should be little less than half of the pencil length.
