Estoy de acuerdo en que Néstor es agradable y amistoso y un excelente invitado, pero habla un poco más rápido y un poco menos claro que tú, María. Solo un poco más de enunciación haría una gran diferencia, creo.

@@srbaruchi en nivel B1 es bueno practicar en la velocidad de Néstor, en nivel A1 es bueno practicar la velocidad y claridad de María. Yo empecé aprender español con los vídeos de María porque entendí todas las letras. Pero en la vida nadie habla así. Hay una solución para todos los niveles porque es posible modificar la velocidad del video en RU-vid. :)

@@muslica27 I'm writing in English, because I think we both understand, and it is faster. First, thank you for the reply. It has been decades since I studied Spanish formally (in h.s. and some in college). I have been studying/practicing, regularly, on my own, for about 2-3 years. I was unaware of the A, B, C levels. I like best the "Survival, Conversational, Fluency" descriptions of the levels. I would (perhaps generously) place myself at Advanced Conversational (B2?). I do change the speed (and watch with/without subtitles, and replay) to be sure I understand 100%, and to reinforce. But, even with slowing the speed, if the speaker is not effectively enunciating, or "swallowing" parts of words, it makes it more challenging for those who are not native speakers, not intimate with every word and phrase in the language, nor can easily "fill in the blanks" if we don't hear precisely. The reality is, as you say, that, ultimately, the listener has to get better; however, it sure helps if the speaker cooperates.

En el EEUU deberías haber intentado el esquí de fondo, es mas facíl y mucho menos aterrador. Me encanta mucho esquiar de fondo durante el invierno en Canadá.

Tengo una pregunta. Creía que el infinitivo de un verbo siempre está después de una preposición. Por ejemplo, en esta oración: -- Voy a ir después de cenar. -- Pero, con una frase como -- actividad de escucha -- la palabara 'escucha' no es el infinitivo. ¿Por qué? ¿Cuál es la diferencia?

Just when I believe I am making progress in my listening skills, I watch a video like this and I lose all confidence. I will never learn to understand Spanish that is spoken at this speed. Portions of it sound like a blur to me.

“Lose all confidence”? Why? There’s levels of difficulty and strategies to get to those levels. Figure out what the problem is and work on it. There’s no point in losing all confidence just because you didn’t understand what was said in one video vs. what you’ve actually achieved before. Work your way to get to that level and keep on trying.

@@WhyNotSpanish Muchas gracias. Despite my loss of confidence, I will not give up. But I am lowering my goals and expectations. The "level of difficulty" of this video is not realistically within my reach, unless I invest more than the hour-and-a-half per day that I currently spend studying Spanish. This is no reflection on you and Cody (and Nestor). You are wonderful teachers who make learning fun!

@@michaelkelly7999 yes! Don’t give up! I’m learning to skate. I was doing ok with one trick i started to learn. One day i fell. I mean, i feel harrrrd. It hurt. It hurt my ego as well. I also lost confidence. What i did was: i took a break, got myself back together and some days later i started where i had left off. I got someone to help me figure out what i did wrong. I was so scared!!! But in the end i did it again. It was not easy nor nice… but… oh well, i did it. I know it’s not the same skills but the learning process seems to be very similar. Cheer up! Take a break if you need to. Regroup. You got this.

I know what you mean Michael. I always have the spanish subtitles on the screen. You probably already know that if you click on settings, top right corner, you can change the speed. I often use the 0.75 speed cos it's 3/4 of normal speed, I find it really helps.
