DM Heng Lai, I am glad to have found this video, because I remember you speaking of your life in a lecture you gave at CTTB 50th anniversary. You had mentioned then and also in this video that if one doesnt keep the precepts purely, one is kicked out of a good state in meditation. My question is in order to keep precepts purely, one would have to have no notion of a self. Now, would one have to be a vegetarian? Thank you.
I am a vegetarian, giving up meat after realizing that all sentient beings were once our friends and relatives because of Buddhism learning. So it is up to you to eventually find out what is right for you. That is my opinion.
