I was there, from his New York Net days until his retirement. He will always be the GOAT to me, no matter how old I get. He was every player’s inspiration in the 70’s and early-mid 80’s. He single-handedly carried two professional leagues, saved the NBA from oblivion, and brought basketball into the modern era. He did all of this as the ultimate team player, not as a diva taking 30+ shots a night. If you look up the word “legend” in the dictionary, you will see his picture there. Thanks for the basketball memories, Doc!
Damn! This is SOOOOO good. Sums up in 51 seconds what entire books haven't been able to capture about this iconic legend. The last line is epic - "ALL THE STORIES ARE TRUE!" If you were alive and a hoop fan in the 70's, you'll understand what that means.
