@@BrackstonesTravelAdventures I just got an eco-worthy 12v 20ah lifepo4 battery from amazon that actually has a DC 5525 barrel plug built into it and was able to do the same. I'm thinking since the monitor is 19v @ 3 amps (a little under 60 watts), as long as the battery is capable of outputting 12v @ 5amp (also 60w) it will work. Basically your theory of it increasing the current draw to make up for the lower voltage seems to be correct! I've never seen a small 12v battery that comes with a 5525 barrel plug built in I was able to get an adapter to power my portably 12v fridge off of it as well!.

Thanks for the video. My LG tv 55uh600V has just a mains cable connection, but I heard sometimes these TVs might have a 12V socket directly on the PCB inside, so I’m wondering whether to try opening it up to have a look. Just seems risky as my wife will kill me if I somehow break the TV! 😂🤣
@BrackstonesTravelAdventures
@BrackstonesTravelAdventures 3 года назад
Hi, that's unfortunate that the TV has 240v straight in. What size TV is it. If it's 22" or less then it is most likely the voltage is dropped internally by a transformer. If you are not competent and knowledgeable in electronics the I would not take the back off. You could damage the power supply to the TV or burnout the PCB or even hurt yourself. My demonstration was for 19v TVs. Good luck

@BrackstonesTravelAdventures
@BrackstonesTravelAdventures 27 дней назад
Hi @RichieKeane if the TV has an external power unit which converts the AC inout into a DC output then it should easily run on a DC DC converter. Find out what the DC output of the TV is and then get a DC DC converter which has a larger wattage than the TV runs on. You will need to use the original TV plug input cable and make sure you have the polarity correct.

@geekstradamus1548
@geekstradamus1548 Год назад
The box on that cable contains a Switched-Mode Power Supply (SMPS). The first component of an SMPS is a rectifier. The rectifier’s roll is to convert AC to DC. Other components after the rectifier “massage” the power to the required VA for the device. If you send VDC down the rectifier instead of VAC, the entire device will begin heating up at a rate determined by Jen’s Law, and destroy the Earth. Or it will actually do nothing. I have a difficult time remembering which since I just made up Jen’s Law, and haven’t yet assigned it any properties. So based on the assumption that Jen’s Law will turn out to be garbage, and knowing there are no other scientific reasons to think otherwise, it’s probably safe to cross our fingers and believe that the low voltage DC will pass through the rectifier and be “massaged” just the same as DC power that passed through the rectifier which so recently possessed enough AC-like properties to be called AC power.

Have you checked all the connection for any loose one. someone had similar a year ago. Also if you have a meater can you check the voltage coming out the converter. Another thing to check that the polarity is the same as the original TV supply.

another thing the 3 amp converter may not be powerfull enough to turn on a 24" TV. Does the red light come on but no screen powering up. If no connection issues you may need a 5A converter. If you put a voltmeter on the converter output whist connected to the TV you may see the voltage drop off as you turn in the TV indicating the converter is not power full enough

@@BrackstonesTravelAdventuresThaks for replies..checked connections and they're OK swapped converters also as I bought 2. Light on tv doesn't come on at all. Power from supply is OK, I don't have a tester. Do you think I need a 5A 95w?

Its possible, When I did my TV the smaller 3A converters would not power them up or would try to turn on then shut down again. Most larger TV with smart systems use a lot more power

So can I buy a 32" smart TV and do the same conversion? If yes, you've just saved me from buying the Avtec one for 500 quid 😅

Ive never done a 32" tv it will only work n TV's with a 19V power supply into it, I have herd that some TV's at 32" have this but I have not seen one myself. Someone has just done a 32" monitor which if this has a HDMI input this can then take a Amazon firestick

@@xtrax38Sony w830k is 32” 720p and takes 19.5v input. You might need to test what voltage ranges it would work with but I’ve seen 12v to 19.5 DC to DC converters, otherwise I’m assuming 19v would work also.
