Anyone who's tried to screen capture on Windows 10 or Windows 11 knows there's really no built-in app to record the video that's any good. There's third-party apps in the Microsoft store that are so-so, but the better ones are actually Chrome browser extensions. I feature the one I use on my Windows 10/11 systems, but the only problem is they render the video in .webm format.
The .webm format can be played back using the Chrome browser, but has very poor support in MacOS. Neither Quicktime nor iMovie can read them. This means that in order to use the video in your content, it must first be converted to a format MacOS can read like mp4.
Thankfully, the app Handbrake can accomplish that task nicely as I show in this video.
