Yeah, the sane thing to do is to judge the economy at large and corrupt politicians, catering to billionaires instead of helping working families. There are lots and lots of people in equal living conditions all over the industrialised, so called developed countries. None of us should ever judge a family for the macro circumstances they have to face. Solidarity with this sweet family! 💗

Making it budget friendly and adding cheap DIY solutions would be awesome too!

It would probably be a bit easier to avoid living on the cusp of homelessness if they didn't have a child. Seems like a lot of people in poverty choose to have a lot of kids... I just don't understand the logic there.

I didn't have cable for a long time too for the same reason... I did recently get it but I'm not sure if I'll keep it or not. Anyway, fwiw, if you have roku you can get channel apps for TLC, HGTV, etc. For some of the videos you will need to have cable service, but there are a lot you can watch without cable - they will just show up some amount of time after they aired, or some series they just don't have available at all. But I watched HGTV with zero cable by using that app. I think you can do the same on their sites themselves but it's nice to have it all in one place. (If you do, I recommend Nate and Jeremiah by Design which is on the TLCGo App - Also! You can get the revamp of Trading Spaces there too :D And then the HGTV app has all the Property Brothers and their affiliate shows, I also really like Good Bones and I think you would too since it's slightly Mr Kate vibe, plus lots more of course... it's HGTV so there's about a billion.) The one thing I've noticed is the DIY app isn't as great for freebies - even with cable I can't access most of it because I don't have the cable that includes that channel as a subscription. Again, it is more hit and miss on what you can access and when vs having cable (at which point you don't even have to watch the cable live, they will let you access everything in the app once you sign in/activate with your cable subscription - also fun fact: if you don't pay for HD on Xfinity you can still watch HD episodes on the app because it seems to see it as streaming vs live TV). There's also HGTV Handmade on youtube, and there are several designers I watch who do DIY things but not the same level of home decoration as Mr Kate, so I can't offhand recommend other channels like them to increase your shows to watch. When I first ran across Mr Kate I was so thrilled for the same reason as you! Except for the mindreading part. That's a bit creepy lol ;) ;)

Exactly, my exact thoughts. I love them so much more for doing this for them. Also, to fit everything there like this... The talent of Mr Kate and Joey. In Poland we have this tv show where they help families with really bad living condition. This reminded me of that. I am really so happy that they are giving back like this. So grateful that they helped them.

I agree. But just for perspective, I think their work for other youtubers isn’t free. I think those paid collaborations are part of what makes these videos possible.

I think what they do for youtubers helps them gain popularity and also allows them to spend much more, since youtubers probably pay for it. I wonder if they discuss prices beforehand or just present them with a total, lol

The sad thing is that it's still much bigger than what us Russians often live in, I mean, like two rooms for a family of 4 is the most common thing here and man are these rooms small XD That a lot, if not most of Americans live in houses and have like, backyards and pools and whatnot blows my mind lol. But yeah, this family deserves a makeover! I'm happy for them=))))

They live with their parents- it’s probably temporary. Their bedroom is pretty big. Maybe they’re saving to buy a home. It doesn’t have to be sad. Perspective

Usually the goal is for that situation to be temporary, but some people live like that for years. It doesn't need to be sad, but sometimes people have no other option than to live in that situation. It is not always a choice.

@@AshleyJolienne The goal is probably for it to be temporary, but even if it is, that can mean 5+ years. The fact remains that poverty is on the rise, as is homelessness. These are the lucky ones; they have parents that are able to help them. Not to mention the help from Mr. Kate! I really hope they do more episodes like this, both to help others that struggle, but also to inspire people that live in tiny apartments or with their parents.
