Hello, my name is Stephen Taylor. I am a joiner, a music producer and a poet from Birkenhead, England.
I absolutely love Scotland and visit as much as I can. This year, along with starting a record label back home, I have decided to take my joinery work on the road and travel to wild and remote places in Scotland.
In this video I travel to Inverness, the capital of the highlands, and after a chance meeting with Liam, a local B&B owner, I get a job converting his Ford Transit Minibus into a campervan.
Inverness is certainly not the wildest and remotest place by any means, but it's a starting point, and a very interesting city.
There are a few things that I would like to mention about this video:
- The insulation was put in place after the wooden lats were fitted. this was because we were waiting for the sound deadening sheets to arrive. Deliveries in the Highlands can be pretty slow. It is much easier to install the insulation before fitting any of the wood to the van walls / ceiling.
- I didn't do any of the electrics or plumbing. The wires were put in place before my arrival and I made sure that access was available throughout the van so that the project could be easily completed.
- I had a very limited amount of time available to put this video together so I decided not to go into too much detail about the technical aspects of the project. Instead I decided to show a quick overview of the work that was involved, and I hope that by watching this video you find a little bit of information about something you haven't thought of before.
There are so many possibilities when creating a campervan and everyone has different things that are essential to them. The great thing about this project was that I got to work directly with Liam, the van owner, at his house. Every detail was thoroughly discussed and all of the work was custom made to exactly how he wanted it.
