While I appreciate the video , there was way too much unnecessary talking , and I was hoping you'd actually show an install. Jumping to your next videos to see if there is one . Definitely piqued my interest as I was looking to do the same with my recliner
Hi - lost the charger for my Flexsteel Alden Power recliner. Chair was discontinued and I can’t find a replacement charger that has the transformer and tube type female connector. Any ideas? Larry Dunn - Colorado
Can you please, please, please, pretty please make a step by step video on how to convert a power recliner to a manual.🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀I just inhereted a beautiful leather power loveseat with broken motors. I do not want to replace the motors. Also... can a lever be used instead of the one you showed? And what about the springs you mentioned at the end? Thank you sooooo much for your time. :)
Would this work on a pool tab recliner from La-Z-Boy? I am talk texting this so I may have misspelled lazy boy. It is actually for a Brooks reclining loveseat. I enjoy the feel of the Brooks loveseat better than the roofer, which reclines with a power source.
I've got a power recliner with the dog ate the chords off of it and what I'm wanting to do is just recline the chair and leave it reclined is that possible
I think I explain how to let down the footrest on a powered recliner in another one of my videos. I believe it’s in the one about diagnosing your power recliner.
Any ideas on why a manual reclining loveseat won't stay in positions while a person is seated in it? I feel like I have to hold my feet in a tense way to keep it from creeping closed. We don't see any issues looking at the mechanism. It is a used 2004 build. Thank you.
So is it possible to turn a power recliner into a stable reclining chair I don't want it to keep reclining back and forth whatever I just want it to stay reclined
The short answer is it is very difficult to convert one. It would be better to just buy a whole new manual reclining mechanism and even then it’s expensive and difficult. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. You CAN remove bolts to let down the footrest if it is stuck open. Or check with the store for the necessary electrical parts and they may be able to get those to you
I have a power recliner. I was wondering if there was anyway i can make it lay all the way flat? I do lash extensions and thought this chair was perfect .. after buying it I’m realizing it needs to go back about 4 more inches. Is there a quick hack fix ???
Im converting a power lift chair that actually has a square tube already thru the middle. Like you see on manual chairs minus the handle. After removing the motor, remote, and etc . I assume if i get a hhandle that mounts directly to the square id just cut a hole thru the material and bolt it on the square tube. Do any adjustments need to be made to any of the springs? Remove, add, or modify? This chair actually help assist with standing upright.
Unfortunately it’s hard to tell without seeing the exact mechanism, but the short answer is yes. You will more than likely have to modify where the springs are attached or add some altogether
They usually have the attachment points on the mechs whether it’s power or Manual though. The springs usually attach to little 3/4” metal attachments on the mechanism or there may be a whole in the mechanism that it hooks in to
I hardly ever see them sold separately online. I may have some in the shop if you could send me a picture of what you have or need. Our email is the323concept@yahoo.com
I do not recommend rewiring any of the motors. they are meant to go a certain speed for a purpose. An electrical engineer may be able shed some more light on this subject though. Sorry I couldn’t be more help answering your question!
Is there a way to find what electric motor would work in a particular LazyBoy chair? If not, is there a way to move the lever so I can actually REACH it when I'm sitting in the chair without having to lean all the way over? Thank you
I would recommend reaching out to the lazyboy store where it was purchased or the lazyboy customer service team. They should be able to give you the exact model needed for your unit. You could potentially install a power remote and disconnect the switch on the side of the unit to make it easier
@@the323vlog4 ~~~~~~Is there a way to move the lever on the side so it's easier to reach for? I have one with a stick lever that's almost on the ground it's so low. I'd like to convert to electric but that might take some time with inflation right now. I'd LOVE to move the lever so I can reach it by leaning forward, not leaning down to the floor. Thank you
Yup, a pretty easy fix! Just make sure you get one that has the same connection (usually a 5 pin) and run it up the backside and out of the way of all moving parts(zip tie wires to mechanism frame)
YESSS!!! Can you show the Motor mech that would not be convertable would help! Also the other manual handle, the one that directly connects to the drive tube.
@@the323vlog4 Not a big deal, I replaced the latch-to-cable with a handle directly on drive tube. I left the cable in the arm. But had to cut a smal hole and remove a side brace to connect the drive tube handle. Works great!! Cheers!
Question, couldn't you just swap out the complete reclining system instead of trying to find pieces to fit? I understand not so chairs are built the same but a lot are.
@@the323vlog4 I have a fairly expensive Pleather electric chair that wasn't supposed to degrade (the Pleather) the way it has. It's an awesome chair. Very comfortable but looks embarrassingly bad. I see once very expensive, older, manual lever operated chairs in very good condition from free to $100 daily. I'd love to be able to just gut the whole mechanism from mine and put it into one of those. 🤷
@@the323vlog4 I'm going to take pictures and measure mounting hole points on mine and hopefully the person who has the recliner I'm looking at will let me look at and measure theirs. I'll update you on what I find out. Thanks 👍
Is it possible to convert a pull cord flapper activated recliner into a lever activated recliner? I'm sick of both seats in my recliner couch breaking.
I haven’t tried it yet, but I would say yes. Remove the original cable and cable lever activator from mechanism, install new lever over the square drive tube . The only thing is you’ll have to cut a new hole in the arm of the recliner for the handle and handle rod to slide through
Great information 👍on my channel I'm building a home theatre. Mostly using equipment I find at the dump. I recently found some beautiful red leather manual home theatre recliners. Now I'm thinking of turning 10 of them into electric models using the endless electric powered recliners I also see people throwing away. You've given me some valuable information to help me start. Thanks man!
Not exactly sure what you’re trying to communicate. I rewatched the presentation and felt it was clear and concise, but if you have any specific feedback that could help improve the communication, I’m all ears.
