Converting an AIO PC to a Monitor

An AIO PC is nice, until the PC gets old and there is a monitor that can't be used. In this video I convert a old AIO with a decent 1080p panel to a desktop monitor for $25 using an adapter board from ebay. I go over the process I went over to convert the AIO to a monitor and what I looked out for during this process.

Exceptionally helpful video thank you. I’ve an old AIO I’m hopefully going to convert the same for a docking stn display and try to also keep the camera in use.

Great video! With Windows 10 becoming obsolete and my HP 23" all-in-one not being compatible with windows 11, I was debating throwing it away or trying to upgrade the cpu or motherboard to make it compatible (which is impossible). This gives me another option. I plan on converting it to a monitor and then just hanging a windows 11 mini-pc off the back so I can continue to use it. Fraction of the price of a new all-in-one. Thanks!

My Compaq All in one PC CQ1230IN model screen damaged. I am not getting that here. Can I convert whole system into desktop with that motherboard. Plz tell me

Nice video, I'm sad that I can't just plug some type of adapter in and go on my way lol, don't know what I was expecting... but i'll keep this information on the back-burner for when I feel like taking on a project!

Tried this with the converter board for an all in one HP pc. The screen just comes up white but the audio come through the all in one 😵‍💫My laptop picks up the monitor as an external display but again screen just comes up white :/ Any suggestions?

Found a tossed out Dell Wyse AIO 5470, with Thin OS/ Client. I have no experience with Thin OS, but it does have a 1080p screen! What size is the screen that you removed from your AIO? Think the screen size of the 5470 is a 24". Have you tried - carefully!! - to slightly bend or curve a screen? Does the driver board also have a built on amplifier for sounds? Hmm.. kif you had the extra $$ for this cool project, could you have bought a better driver board? Thank you 🤓

I wanna say those systems can have any OS installed on them, but there gonna be pretty slow for many uses. I think the system I opened is a 24in panel, but there is a good chance yours is different, so you'll probably want to check for your self. I don't see a built in amp on the board, but I think it has a headphone out jack from the HDMI/DP audio. I didn't see any higher end board, but I typically aim for cheaper converter boards with projects like this as I see the whole point of this is to be cheaper than a pre-made monitor.

@@ElectronicsWizardry the Dell Wyse 5470 AIO is a recent find, but not sure what to do with it! I also thought of installing Chrome "OS", but would still need a higher capacity SSD. Think it has a 1.5Ghz or so CPU, but I believe it's a Quad core

When you're using an aio as a monitor for another PC, what happens to the ports on the all-in-one whilst using it as a monitor. Are they unusable or are they detected and available to the PC?

Since it's a hdmi monitor now any system with a hdmi should work, including a Mac Studio.

This really depends on the exact all in one, but it’s typically not easy as non standard boards are used. It’s likely possible to plug the board into a monitor, keyboard, network and other devices to the ports on the board. The biggest issue would likely be buttons like the power button and the power input.
