In this video I show how to convert a DIYMORE 2.42" SPI OLED display to I2C....its very easy to do.
These displays are 128x64 and run on the SSD1309 chip.
I have uploaded the files here to run these display using I2C interface.

You sir are a savior. After over an hour fiddling with one of these boards and the u8g library (to no avail) you have solved my issue, turns out the adafruit library is the answer. Thank you!

Thank you for this video, it's really helpful. If I may ask, at what temperature is your hot air blowing? I want to make sure I don't make PCB toast . . . thanks!

Already this is very helpfull, thank you. Now I have a slightly different board whcih states R4 for SPI and R3, R5 for IIC. Unfortunately I do not have a "switch" type of connection like your R8 to R9. Would I therefore need to remove the connection of R4 completely and simply connect R3 and R5?

I would try that

@@PCBoardRepair Did exactly that. However since I'm not a master of the craft I was unable to remove R4. So I simply connected R3 and R5 with some solder and it worked as an i2c connection despite the R4 resistor still in place. Thank you

I dont think you even need to transfer the resistor you can remove it and jump the connection

Yes but this keeps the resistor
