This is a dangerously incomplete tutorial on this topic. There is a risk of loss of data when saving as CSV from Excel which I believe you really should mention if you want to be taken seriously. You have a workbook with several sheets and you Save As to CSV. Excel will ask you if you want to save the current sheet only or save all the sheets as individual CSV files. If you choose the option to just save the current sheet as CSV and then close what you think is still a workbook, you will lose all the other sheets as the whole workbook is saved as CSV but only the current sheet is retained. THis is easily done because when you save the single sheet CSV, Excel looks no different - all your other sheets are there. You'll still have the original .xlsx or .xlsm for example, but will have lost any changes you made in this session.
