We desperately needed more space for our white worm cultures. Using an aquarium temperature controller we converted this old freezer into a white worm cooler. Fish of all sizes will devour these highly nutritious white worms (Enchytraeus albidus) with excitement. They are a great live food for conditioning for breeding and easy to culture yourself at home. I kept white worm in Los Angeles. Our summer can be brutal here. The most important thing is to feed them quality food. I fed them dog food and they did very well. They needed a low temperature environment to thrive is a misconception.

I'm starting to come to that conclusion myself about the temperature... I have more than a few customers that keep them at room temperature with no issues. 😁😁😁

I think it will be nice to make a content of the leaf litter bag under a microscope to see what we as new customer can see what things we cant see when ordering just beside leaf maybe for some f us wh are new to this method and dont have a microscope can see what the life looks ike when we order and put in our tank.... Dont u agree. .... thank u pal

if this freezer really is 40-50 years old, aint it still full of toxic and ozone destroying gasses??? don't want to break down your project, as long as there isn't a leak thers shouldn't be a problem. but be carefull hahaha

Yeah, isn't it crazy, all the harmful and dangerous chemicals we would use in everyday products back then??? Always makes me wonder what we are doing and using today, not realizing in 20 years, we will find out it's been killing us. Especially when it comes to chemicals used in food production and processing. No worries about breaking down my project. This is a wonderful way to recycle this piece of equipment... Around these parts, many people would have thrown it out in the middle of a field to shoot with a bunch of guns. 🤣🤣🤣 Keeping worms cold is a much safer way of keeping these chemicals contained for now. It's always very surprising how difficult it is to find someone who cares about the proper disposing of equipment that has chemicals in them. Even if you take this freezer to the dump, the chances of the employees caring at all about the proper disposing of this freezer is little to none.
