It's actually really easy. Especially in really remote areas people tend to mind their own business (hence why his car was never reported). I live in WA and I've spent a lot of time in the wilderness, living off grid and doing a lot of "weird" things in the woods and no one really cares what you do so long as you're not bothering them or being destructive.

Things like deforestation, suburban encroachment, tweakers and a general crack down intended to target illegal activity (drug use/traficking/cultivation, illegal fishing/trapping/poaching, squatters, hazardous waste/ dumping, etc) are making it harder to sustain an off grid space like this. But it also really depends on the area, the more remote the location the more likely you're to go unnoticed.
If I saw someone carrying a bunch of lumber in the woods, I'd assume it's a park ranger repairing or upgrading the trail, maybe even installing an outhouse.

Inspired by this video, I did some online researching of my own on this. Seems to be some conflicting information. One article states the 9 month sentence was 'near the top' of the sentencing guidelines for what he was convicted of. The initial production of child porn charge was dropped, yet one article claimed some of the framed pictures were actually photographed inside the cabin....which seems highly improbable. Was there any evidence or claims he actually had kids there? Not that I've seen. Also, while the depictions shown on the wall in this video may not be everyone's taste, they certainly wouldn't rise to the level of child pornography. Yet the claims of photos found of actual girls engaging in sexual activity absolutely would, so why would the state agree to bargain down to much lesser charges? Just makes no sense whatsoever. One other thing I've noticed, after looking through many articles written both before and after his conviction, I cannot find even one picture of this guy. My gut is telling me there's more to this story than what is known by the public.

I'm Law Enforcement, but what he is showing in this video, stating that it's really Creepy; I just don't see it. It's art, as Simple as that. Nothing that I havent seen in my kids fairy books. So theyre naked, most fairies are scantily clad, or wearing flowers or strategically placed leaves. Theres even some famous fairy pictures here, painted in the 1890s .My wife did craft classes with primary school age kids, and so had an album full of fairies pics, like these, for the kids to use as a guide for making fairy dells with gumnuts, moss, twigs etc.

The woods, the cabin and some of the artwork were beautiful in a fantasy sort of way. You would expect to see fairy's in the moss. I would say he was practicing Wicca because of the items in the cabin. It's terrible what he was doing there and really he should have served more time in my opinion, but I'm not the judge.

I agree the keyboard is small. But that stone "statue"......unless it's plastic, looks pretty heavy. I hope he didn't bring kids up there. Who knows how many more places like this exist.
It should be torn down. Removed!!!!! That simple. Anything involving such evil, cruelty involving a child should be destroyed. But 9 months? I don't get that? A child's worth more than that. Mot sure on all the details but clearly he had bad intentions all the way around.

I still don't know how he was able to do that. It was incredibly steep and there wasn't a path to walk down to it. I am planning on going back to see if it is still there and maybe do a part 2 video (if it is still there of course).
Trying to find it once you leave the trail is another thing all together. It's nearly impossible to find unless you've been there before. I'm lucky my friend went before me
The fact that the bed was made makes me think they didn't search it very well. I'd bet there's stuff under the mattress or in the bed construction itself.

From what I’ve seen so far: He’s a Wiccan. There are drawings of wood sprites, nymphs, fairies, elves, etc.. I’ll go back to see if I can figure out the carved words.
I honestly don't have a clue on how he did it. It was the worst terrain trying to hike without a ton of gear. Can't imagine carrying all the things needed to build the cabin etc!
I actually really love all that art work because I have a friend who paints similar things. But given the circumstances of the cabin I totally understand their creepy vibe :o. Thank you for going here before it got torn down! Love it
