As I sit here in 2024 this song has such a deeper meaning. My grandpa, and Nana who were Conway fans are now gone. The house with the tin roof I listened to rain on has been torn down. I lost a child, and that night it rained within my heart. I wish I could go back to those carefree, little girl days with family, tin roofs, and none of the loss that comes as we become the elders. On a brighter note maybe my grandpa, and Nana are holding my baby listening to Conway somewhere far better than here. Where all is peace, love, and music. 😊
I loved your comment❤I’m reading with tears falling down my face…I too want so much to go back to being a little 5 year old girl at my grandparents house. God bless you and you’re right. Your grandparents are holding and loving your baby. You’ll see them one day😊❤
My husband passed in 2008 listening to this song. Praying for you and me. May the Light find us again. In my last decade and not sure ywhat your future holds. Find and peace peace.
Sending you a huge hug, I shed some tears for you as I sit here and listen to this song and the rain on our tin roof. Everyone should have the experience of rain on a tin roof. I am happy you had that. Take care.
This version of rainy night in Georgia. Just stop you dead in your tracks, and how can you not cry listening to this, You could see the camaraderie and fun, Sam. And conway we're heading 😢😢😢
Sadly, this was the last trac Conway ever did. Legendary performance by everyone involved in this project, truly giants in the industry and this record and the documentary film are one of the best examples of american music.
I'm sitting here in 2022 looking at the state of our world, country and today's country music. I go to these videos to unplug for a few minutes. This video in particular, shows we all can have common ground, what pure talent looks like, but most of all, love and respect. Thank you Sam and Conway.
First time I've heard this rendition and now I can't stop playing it. Makes you wanna sit in the back of a dimly lit barroom and just think. GREAT job by two GREAT artists! Rest in peace Conway.
This is one of those songs that make you dream... What you lost, what you wish you'd done different, just dreaming of better, maybe. I have the CD Country and Soul, a compilation of duets like this, with songs like "i fall to pieces" Aaron Neville and Trisha Yearwood, which is amazing! But this song with legends Conway and Sam just tore me up inside... And on rainy nights, it's often playing in my room, solace in my solitude... Rest well Conway.
A truly beautiful rendition of a truly beautiful song, Conway rightfully pays tribute to Brooke Benton, who made the song famous. I'd like to pay tribute to it's author, Tony Joe White. A fantastic performer too. Thanks Tony. R.I.P
I thought I'd researched everything there was about this beautiful gift of music, but I honestly thought Brooke Benton had written both the music and the lyrics. I'll have to chase down the lead on Tony Joe White....
You could tell just how much Sam admired Conway....both talented in their own way....Conway, we miss you, yet another old Arkansas Razorback gone from us....Levon, Conway, Charlie, Johnny and oh so many more
There are still country stars who emulate his example. Conway will never truly pass, so long as people remember his music, and attempt to produce TRUE country music; with soul, passion, and emotion. Real country music either makes you smile, or it makes you wanna cry.
Tony Joe White is now gone, but his music lives on. This may be one of the greatest songs ever written. When over 100 artists record your song, artists from every era and genre, every ethnicity and from all over the world, you know you wrote a great one. RIP Tony Joe White.
Listening. To David ruffin version of this song and then all that talk you sis goes out the window. No one could do it like David ruffin. Not even Brooke himself could top David ruffin. David was on another level . It's cute about country mix with soul bit yeah David ruffin. Just listened that's all
This Masterpiece shows the very close kinship between C&W and R&B. The two genres are very much "kissin' cousins," if you will. And these two Legends showcase it to perfection. Many thanks and so much appreciation to these fine Gentlemen. Rest In Paradise, Mr. Conway Twitty...
I was in a Qiuk Stop in Missouri with a friend when the radio announced that Conway had passed away. We stood in shock,,, looked at each other for couple of seconds. Then tears came,,,,, we still miss you Conway.
Really hard to believe that there are 152 tone deaf and ignorant people voting on this video...what a shame they don't know true music when they hear it...R.I.P. Conway...can't believe you have been an Angel for 23 year's already....seem's like it was yesterday...Will love and miss you forever
Reading the comments on these 2 artists proves there is still a lot of heart and soul with good understanding without the fluff and no substance i see far to often in todays society
My father was a country western singer and as a kid I remember these guys being a big part of my childhood Men like Conway Twitty Waylon Jennings Hank Williams Senior and my father will always be remembered but the world will never be the same without them in it. It was a time in history that has definitely passed by.
I've always loved Blues, But when i heard this I learnt that some people like this AMAZING Duo could actually make me like Country.. Thank you Conway, & Sam for teaching me this at my ripe old age. AMEN
Unfortunately, the artists totally failed to interpret the emotional tone of the song. It's about a guy who is so down on his luck and alone that he's living on boxcars, and these fools are laughing and joking about the rain, and singing in crazy high-pitched and loud tones. Thank God Brook Benton had an ability to interpret a song.
Will never be another Conway Twitty I was so lucky to see him perform so many times and I attended his funeral and other memorials for him----My heart still aches when I hear these songs!!!
How did this ever happen? The whole thing, the Artists, the Song, the Performance, the banter at the end. It's become an important piece of history to me, an almost surreal quality. History being made right there. Wonder if they knew?
254tom dont forget we got lotsa young blood coming on.Dont be deaf to young music or you go the way of the dinosaurs.Learn something new everyday. We have a wave of new talents.
I'm not much of a country fan but I really can appreciate Conway Twitty's talent. He and Sam Moore sure did a number on this. As fine a version as anyone's done.
Who can vote this down? This is real music; not the crap that is found in found in every music category today.I don't care what the format is 90% of it is crap and can't compare to stuff like this
What a super and class act Conway was and still is after his death. He is sadly missed. I still listen to him still. The rainy nights in Georgia is one of the best. Makes me relax and get my mind back the right mode.
My mom passed away two days after Thanksgiving in 2018 and I haven't felt right since that happened. My mom was my entire world and everytime I hear this song it still makes me"59 years old" cry like a little baby from missing her so much. I love you mom and miss you so very VERY much. Love your son Gary.
I know the feeling my friend. I lost my Dad 46 years ago and my Mom 14 years ago. Still miss them both like crazy. This song is just so beautiful and comforts my broken heart.
So Wonderful to see Black and White singing together in absolute Harmony, Friendship and Love......Beautiful, Heartmoving Song......Tears and Sadness....When I hear it.....For All Those I have Loved and Lost....!!!
I always loved Brook Benton's version and his is first one I heard , but Conway and Sam Moore really did a great version with this classic song. Every time I hear this and watch the video I smile. Love Conway and Sam Love Brook also " Hovering by my suitcase looking for a warm place to spend the night"
Sad to know this was the last song that he recorded. I have the Rhythm & Blues CD and he really sings from the heart on this song. I have followed him for over 60 yrs. And he's the greatest singer of all time. RIP Conway Twitty ♡
+Aaron Woodin Think about what you said and how you might have misunderstood. SHE has followed him for 60 years. That doesn't mean he was singing for 60 years.
Fantastic song! Never heard this one. Fun watching them having fun singing together. I've been a Conway fan since my early 20's in the early 80's. My dad was surprised I liked him and he & mom took my wife & I to see him perform at GA Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee about a year before he passed. He rocked the roof! It was such a privilege to see him. He put on a fantastic show and sang for about 2.5 hours with only a 15 min break. It really surprised me he was able to perform so well for his age. He is one of those rare individuals whose voice just kept getting even better with age. I cherish those days.
