A favourite pastime of mine in the late 80's was to get to the footy early to watch the Reserves play and switch on the radio to 3LO to listen to the banter of the Coodabeen Champions.
Through Greg Champion and others they reworked famous songs to a football theme and played a track each week.
This track comes from the 1988 audio tape "On The Bench With The Coodabeen Champions".
I have added some unrelated video footage of the 1992 Night Grand Final at VFL Park between Hawthorn and Fitzroy.

This song should have a million comments... Come on Victoria!!!! I saw the Lions runaway in the last term. What a lyric. Best Champs song by 100 points.. I miss VFL Park...in the dark

I love this song my dad used to have the cassette,it had go plugger go,it was great and the funny thing about this song was when he says I saw Bolzon make a mistake on the wing,Bolzon probly only played 2 or 3 games :)

I was at this game - the pre season Grand Final between my beloved Lions and the hawks. We got smashed by the Hawks and it was biggest crowd the Roys played in front of in the 90's. If i am not mistaken Roos played even though he was injured - go those Roy Boys and Brisbane Lions

Greg Champion says this is an original. I guess he's right but I have a vague memory of a song that sounded a lot like this back in the early to mid 80s.
