Today I'm sharing some recipes dear to my heart! I grew up in a conservative mennonite church, and while the church we attend now is not as conservative - it still has a very strong Mennonite culture! Sunday dinners are a big deal around here and today I'm sharing what that typically looks like!

RECIPES:
some of the "recipes" I used are just "a bit of this and a little of that" and I don't have an actual recipe, but here's some I can share!
Ham Balls:
6 lbs ground ham
1 1/2 cups milk
2 eggs
2 cups crushed ritz crackers
Mix together and form into balls.
Sauce:
2 cups maple syrup
1 cup water
1/2 cup white vinegar
1 tsp dry mustard
Simmer for 4 mins.
Pour sauce over the ham balls, then bake at 350 for 60-70 mins.
Peanut Butter Pie:
Heat 2 1/2 cups milk.
While that heats, mix:
1/3 cup cornstarch
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 cup sugar
2 egg yolks
Add this sauce to the heated milk and boil till thick. Remove from heat and add:
2 T butter
1 tsp vanilla
Let cool.
For the crumbs, mix about 1/2 cup peanut butter with 3/4 cup powdered sugar.
Once the custard is cool, put about half the crumbs on the bottom of the pie crust (crust recipe below), pudding next, then top with whipped cream (I used about 3 cups). Top with remaining crumbs.
My favorite Pie Crust:
Mix:
4 cups flour
2 T sugar
1 tsp salt
Add:
1 3/4 cups lard
Mix well with pastry blender until crumbly.
In a 1 cup measuring cup, mix:
1 egg
1 T vinegar
Fill with water to the 1 cup line.
Combine the two mixtures, and divide into round flats (makes about 4 pie crusts).
Sourdough Dinner Rolls:
4-5 cups flour
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup sourdough starter
1/2 cup heavy cream
pinch of salt
Night before, mix dough together. Cover and let sit at room temp over night. In the morning, form into rolls. Let sit another 3-4 hours. Bake at 350 for 20-25 mins!
