Thanks, Ma! I am so touched by this video. I just found out my late mom's ancestry is Bamileke from Cameroon. I am watching this one thinking, many years ago, my great, great, great, great grandmother cooked this jollof rice! I can;t wait to make this recipe and sit back and this about all the ladies that came before my mother. 🥰

This looks so good. This is dinner tonight or tomorrow. What type of long grain rice is that. It looks moist too...unlike the other types of jallofs you mentioned. Which I still love but this I have to try and it looks like a much simpler cooking method. Thank you so much...I can't wait to try it...once I know the type of rice you used. And also, how much tomato sauce/puree did you use?
@CookingWithClaudy
@CookingWithClaudy 2 года назад
I used long grain Basmati rice and the puree or tomato paste is about 4 tbsp. The description box has more details

Hello, she used the Maharani Super Golden Sella Basmati Rice. Its the best rice over. And please put water in small batches so it doesn't over cook. Hope this helps bro. Thanks for watching

Is Jollof rice really Cameroonian too? I asked my Cameroonian mom and she said it’s more Senegalese not really considered Cameroonian even though they eat it too. What do you think about it?
@alaure5993
@alaure5993 8 месяцев назад
it depends if your mom is anglophone or francophone. My bamileke side of the family just refer to it as riz saute, whereas my family in bamenda calls it jellof rice, it just depends on the part of the country you're from

Why does this taste decent when there was so many... unique ways of cooking in this? The veggies are raw, the meat has no flavor other than the maggie, the rice is soggy but it doesnt taste bad.
