Cook With Us - A New Kenyan Dish! 

Solo mentioned that when he cooks a large batch of the recipe it changes it to more of a stew. We also have 10 children and often I would overfill my skillet .I was informed this ends up steaming the food which would explain why I had trouble getting my meat pieces nice and browned. I now brown meat in batches ......it adds an extra step unfortunately but it is worth it taste wise.

Put a damp towel or paper towel under the cutting board so it doesn't move while cutting. It is safer especially when you're using a sharp knife.

Solo, I made the Kenyan stew my family loved it I also made Sukhumi, which was a hit in my family. Sarah, I made several of your dishes also that was delicious.

My friend that is a missionary in Tanzania area (Kilimo Timilifu) have children that go to boarding school in Kenya. They said things are possibly shutting done do to Covid. Prayers for your family in Kenya that all is well.

The dish looks so good! I don't have any of the Misen knives, but I do have the Misen non stick pan, and I love it! The kids are growing so much, enjoyed watching Judah play the piano. Great video! I will try this recipe. It would be great if Solo published a cook book! Loved hearing Judah play the piano. My husband plays the keyboards and he also is in a band. Along with the power of prayers , his music is truly what has saved him from cancer.

I love watching Solo cooking and getting new ideas to feed my family. I actually had to watch this video twice so that I could copy down a general idea of the recipe. I too cook like Solo and rarely measure anything when it comes to cooking and just use my sense to cook. Can't wait to get the ingredients to give it a try

Yes, we cook from the heart, no measuring. This dish looks wonderful. I didn't realize how TALL Judah is. He just towers over Seth. LOVE LOVE LOVE when he plays the piano.

Where I come from we call the ugali "mămăligă" it goes along way with lots of things, it is the same as polenta.

“She has a bandaid for nothing!” Lol. We have 6 kids (baby #7 due in June) and we have a lot of kids wearing bandaids for nothing. This made me laugh so much. I’m glad to see it’s not just my kids. We go through 100’s of bandaids and very little are actually needed. Hahaha

I live in Utah and there is an amazing Ethiopian restaurant near me and many of their dishes are similar to Kenyan ones Solo has made on this channel and I always love trying them out, even some that if I hadn’t seen how yummy they looked in a video, wouldn’t have been something I normally would order! Try putting a wet dishcloth or even just a wet piece of paper towel under your cutting board to prevent it from slipping around! Makes cutting food so much easier when your cutting board isn’t slipping around 🙂

Totally get it.. Cooking of the Heart.. Having a different Breath.. Here in Egypt its called Naffas means Breath.. Breath of love basically. I have some poor friends.. Clean home and simple Food which is mysteriously delicious.. And people are often so generous with the little they have.. And Always trying to be honouring Guests which is beautiful 💜

The cutting board is everything! It is huge.

I love your channel and enjoy watching the cooking sessions since I grew up in a large family too. One tip I thought I may share ... when you are using the cutting board, place a couple of damp paper towels or damp rag underneath it. It hold the board still and prevents it scooting all over the counter. 😁

Wow, wow, wow! I just made this for dinner tonight with lamb stew meat. I ordered the curry spice off Amazon and had bought zucchini as well. The zucchini had gone bad unfortunately so I used some that I had on hand that I had dehydrated. This was a quick and easy dinner and oh so delicious. Thank you Solo!

I actually just picked up some stew meat. I’m adding cilantro and zucchini to my grocery list. I will try this on some cauliflower rice. Tonight I made a big salad for dinner, Mixed greens, feta cheese, craisens, chopped almonds, cubed Turkey breast and Gorgonzola pear dressing. Planning to make my own salad dressings this summer. Working towards one ingredient additives. My diet has improved lately, I went to give plasma and had the highest iron count ever. Which for me is unusual, since I’ve been turned away numerous times for a low iron count. It really made me feel good. Please give as the blood banks have a need during covid, they are restricted in their blood drives, less people in the door due to spacing, no blood vans etc.

Another delicious dish!😍Oh,a tip for sliding cutting boards.I use my Rubbermaid mesh shelf liner and cut a small piece and place under cutting board and voila! No moving around,lol.🙏❣️

My husband is Ugandan. Our family loves the beef stew meat etc. We use Royco seasoning we usually get from the African markets or when a friend travels, garlic, tomatoes, onions etc. Definitely a family fav of our 3 kids too

These Kenyan recipes just sounds so delicious and look wonderful and healthy I can't wait to make some of them I've been thinking about it I live with someone else so I don't have my own kitchen but I think it'd be worth trying I think they like it too good way to get kids to eat vegetables
