East Oakland rapper Cookie Money spoke to VladTV about getting involved in the streets as a teenager, watching friends get killed, and hiding everything from his family and making it seem like he was living a normal life. It wasn't until friends of Cookie's incarcerated father caught him did he start living more openly.
When asked if he thought he was following his dad's footsteps, Cookie said that he never viewed himself as being full-time in the streets, even if he was. During the conversation, Cookie Money also spoke about beating a felony gun charge, which you can hear more about in the above clip.

One Kxng oh ok. I understand what you’re asking me, but no thats not what I basically said at all. But in regards to your question alotta times when your going to court the prosecutor tries to trick you into just pleading guilty and taking the felony charge. If you do that you will get the minimum sentence and the conviction. Thats if you choose to plead guilty, if you fight the case and YOU LOSE then your going to jail and yes your still getting the felony. It’s basically choosing the less of two evils

Backwood Bandit Exactly. Us regular dudes have and can get any good paying job that we want because we don't got felonies to hold us back. I'm sure he's getting money from features and shows but rap don't last forever, music doesn't work out for everybody. I'm in college (cause my parents paid for it all and I have zero debt) right now, I'm about to graduate next semester. The degree I'm going for could get me any high paying job that I want but I'd rather invest my money into a real estate and flip properties. That's a better back up plan than having a rap career in my opinion.
