Cookie Wars: What Went Wrong? 

The sprites for this game were so High Res compared to CROB, the only good thing about this game (because it was built with Unity). It had no replay value. Dumpster fire of a game will always be a dumpster fire. I feel that Devsisters didn't have a lot of say in the end, and Olum were running the show which caused their demise. Some cool potential Cookies/Costumes that could come to CROB though so... please. On a lighter note, best thumbnail of 2020.

Does anyone want Energy Drink Cookie in Ovenbreak? EDIT: you know maybe not just put him in Ovenbreak but put him in Kingdoms aswell

The only good things from this game is the costume designs on Mythic characters and animation. Also I really liked the story too 😔

So to sum this video up (as I understood it): -Game wasn't f2p friendly -Units were unbalanced, making PVP a nightmare -Huge powercreep in PVP, new players cannot compete -Certain units were completely unviable/ borderline useless -No reliable ways of obtaining crystals Did I miss anything? Last time I played was like 2 years ago. I enjoyed the game, but the meta really preferred melee units over ranged ones. Is it shutting down? :(

Honestly, it was the story that made Cookie Wars good. Cookie Wars was basically where we had an actual story arc that had so much potential. I remember looking through the story and was impressed with how it was full of light and at least gave personality to the characters such as Wasabi and Muscle. However, the story itself was wasted on the poor gameplay and tons of imbalances where some Cookies were overpowered and some were not. I feel genuinely sorry for Gumball and Pirate, the two got the worst treatment in the game and Gumball's was even worse. I'm thankful Devsisters is discontinuing Cookie Wars. I do hope they learn from the game's mistakes the next time they release another Cookie Run game.

Also the story isn’t really in the Cookie Run spirit, it’s really sad and without hope instead of being cute and epic. Also RIP Energy Drink...

I didn't know all this stuff happened. Wow. I never played Cookie Wars that much because I used to have a very crappy iPad that was stuck at a very old version of iOS, and when I got the chance to download it on my new iPhone I actually had fun with it (probably because I was ignorant to all the nonsense). After a few months when the winter version of the lobby was still there even though it was like March (of last year), I lost interest, probably from the lack of updates. I heard that the reason behind Cookie Wars not being updated because the company that worked with Devsisters to create it went bankrupt, which might've lead to the entire shutdown of Cookie Wars. I'm not entirely sure, I just heard that somewhere. I wasn't phased at all to be honest, I expected it to happen eventually.

God the art in this game was/is so good. I think the biggest tragedy is that we don't get to see the full potential of the cookies in these battle poses and outfits. I would love for Devsis to rescue this game from the devs they were working with, it still has so much potential...

To me, the game itself wasn’t bad. It was just forgettable.

There was a peak time in my childhood where 2d castle defense games were absolutely huge (paladog, cartoon wars and such), this eventually evolved to more of a side scroller expansion that was before cookie wars. I dunno really, never got into it but I get hella nostolgia now that mobile gaming was so much different. You didn't really need a good story back then... you can say that if it were made 4 years earlier it would probably be more accepted but would fall due to how bland the genre could get.

I never played cookie wars, but after seeing this video that's probably a good thing. It feels like whoever was in charge of the game had a more pay-to-win mindset compared to the more consumer friendly cookie run oven break, and when you make a spin off that throws being pro consumer out the window in favor of being anti consumer, then I'm sorry but that's not really a good idea at all. It's a slap in the face to fans of the series in my opinion, and i really hope Devisters and the developers of Cookie Wars (horn labs right?) learn from this mistake

I'm very dissapointed. I started playing Cookie Wars,then Ovenbreak. So I have big love for the game. I used to be the first in my country! But I was sad because some cookies were too weak. In world 9 basically everyone had almost the same team with sea fairy , wild strawberry,pirate,cheerleader,etc. Oh, I remember the big cherry and earthquake yuck. Metas, only metas. THE ideia of the game it's great, but it was wasted. Also what was that ending? Pancake you little stealer!

sea fairy is the main reason i quit, i dont think she exactly got fixed but i feel as if making the pvp arena twice as big was an indirect nerf to her, still didnt help all that much

Man it’s been awhile since I heard the game COOKIEWARS was mentioned. also you should have talked about the events never leaving. But besides that yeah so much potential was with this game but it became garbage and dead later on. Awesome video and I can’t wait for cookie fun 4

i remember playing cookie wars around very late 2019 (by the time orum went bankrupt and the game was basically about to die), i used to only play story mode but eventually the story mode became overly hard around the first 3 lands to the point i ended up giving up on there, i did try to get some xp from the xp tower but floor 2 became too hard, sending swarms of over 20 (?) units, 1-shotting units like gumball, etc. eventually single player as a whole was too hard wayy too early. because of that i tried getting on pvp (which at the time had like 12 or so people playing), and that became horribly uninteresting, as i had an lv17 cherry blossom (siege unit) that would take down all 3 towers as soon as i placed 1 or 2 of them, so i just kinda gave up on the game as a whole, then it shut down. now im kinda hoping some of the wars content gets ported to ovenbreak in the shape of costumes, cookies or whatever, like wild strawberry or energy drink, which seems to be happening, as dreamcatcher has released and apple cookie (who was only available in wars as of the *post-line (?)* cr era) is getting onto ovenbreak

I liked the gameplay, sprites, units, theme and the animations. It's just that there was so much bad things going on about the game- It's like you have to you almost everything in order to play the game, and I always lost the hackers in Arena, that's why I always hated playing competitive games even though I need to for farming reasons... I felt like the game could grow a lot of potential and grow, but in the end, it was all wasted and was closed shorter than the other Cookie Run games from the franchise. I liked the game but all the problems I had to face made me dislike it even more, it's sad but also, quite nice (in a bad way) that the game ended.... I hated myself playing that game because I never got an S-Tier cookie... I just save their sprites even though I don't use them, I just admire them.. Rest in Peace: CookieWars (the game that madd an absolute insult to f2p).. Some people might not miss you but, I will. Sure, there was so much mistakes about it, but I just tried my best to enjoy it and Im glad I did when it was still there.. I hope nothing like CookieWars ever happens or affects the other games I live to play with.. Rest in peace, we will cherish you in our hearts. Also I thought Mole was going to cancel Cookie Fun: 4 but I'm glad he didn't! Im honestly very excited to see it and share my thoughts in half a nanosecond in the comments!

I remember being REALLY into CW when it came out, and I played it for a few months actually! I was invested into the plot and the animations were lovely, but it soon devolved into a annoying grind of pulling maxed out duplicates of common cookies/pets and getting beat to death in PvP by people who had all of the legendaries maxed out 😭 The game just fell into a lull of having one layout meta and when they started to endlessly repeat the same events, I bailed and left to only play CROB........ so much missed potential..... so much greed in one app.........

I wanted to like this game as long as I did for Cookie Run, in fact I was _living_ CW back when it came out, but after that January update with no new updates, I just dropped outta of it. I kept revisiting it to see if I can get back into it, but jesus christ my dude, just..wow. I can only hope that Hello Brave Cookie and Cookie Kingdom turn out differently then Cookie Wars. It was fun while it lasted with CW, and I am going to miss you when you get pulled out of the google/app stores. Bon voyage.

It's so sad to see this game go. This was one of my favorite games 😔

Pretty much summed my feelings about it. I loved the concept and it was such an interesting AU. But it got screwed over by the MONEY and Hackers so after a while, it started to feel like no matter how much you try to upgrade or progress in the story, you can't keep up... Why bother?

If anything, it created fantastic fuel for more information about the World of Cookies and “alts” Alts in Cookie Wars was great. Your favourite character in a rad outfit with a new (hopefully not horrible) gameplay style. Kind of like alts in Fire Emblem: Heroes. Fan-favourites of character from the fire emblem franchise in fan-servicey outfits. Cookie Wars alts are so much cooler than the simple costumes of Ovenbreak. All you get from costumes are some extra points. But a Cookie Wars alt allows new gameplay strategies. Also, I’m hungry for cookies in different scenarios. Young Jujube?? Drummer doll Macaron??? Absolutely delicious. Well, I hope the new Kingdom game won’t suffer the same fate. Also, I hope the devs tell us what would’ve become of the story if this game didn’t die.

this game was good if you ask me but the 3:02 was a major problem, I mean honestly, unlike CROB, this game is not F2P friendly at all, I got stuck on levels because my units were not strong enough and everything was just everywhere in terms of functionality and basic controls. so much potential but such poor execution. shame

Fire Spirit was too powerful or at least that kind of mess only happenes to me- Like I would just straight up cry when seeing my opponent placing Fire Spirit, it was frustrating. I never got him to make this even sadder xd But I wouldn't have used him I guess

Funny enough Cookie Wars was my introduction into the Cookie franchise. Wars was new and not knowing anything about CROB at the time I gave it 3 stars in the app review. Then I got curious and started playing CROB.. Squid Ink Cookie was brand new then, and as I started playing that game I fell in love with it, to the point that it is the only mobile game I plan on playing for years to come. Once I knew that the real Cookie experience was like, I saw that all the things I said were good about Cookie Wars were actually huge downgrades compared to CROB. A few updates went by and the game still sucks to this day, so as much as I wanted Wars to get better, it wont. I changed my 3 star review to a 1 star, and I hope more people will do the same to show how disappointed we are in their product.

I LOVED this game this game was PEAK cookie game, but i cant lie the cookies are so unbalanced and the game was so easy. Story was great and gameplay was ok. It wasnt that easy first release and wasnt tooo P2W, but i remember redownloading the game and it was disastrous. I want the old cookie wars back

SO much potential. What little story they developed was awesome. Branching out into a genre that would attract a different demographic could have really built up the fanbase. Sadly, I have no idea what Orumlabs was up to, and the grind got so bad by the second month that I had to leave behind my S-grade Rares and Epics because they couldn't keep up and I had no intention of paying for the stupid Chance tickets. Also, yes, I used siege units. Snow Sugar and Kumiho were each staples in the teams I made.

as someone who only played story mode my complaints are that nothing got explained to well, took me ages to figure out who or what to use to level up my cookies and in the end I just got stuck in like world 3 because it had the 245th level where I got spammed with bees and even a full-on A or S team couldn't stand them

I just noticed that it was canceled here my story.I first downloaded cookie run but then I thought because if you run ten more runs I lose my cookies and then I deleted cookie run and I downloaded cookie wars.I played it for days and then I continued playing it.If you reached here I am really gonna miss this game today I tried to enter but I couldn’t...

My opinion is: _The game was, at least, decent. But not in the same level as Cookie Run._ *Little note: I'm not a Cookie Run player anymore, so i'll be telling this with the previous knowledge I have since I have 0 ideas of what the game has been doing later on.* Ok, so, I got this game for my PC with an emulator since the game wasn't available in my current phone. I was pretty excited about it and I even got in and get all the stuff I could but- suddenly, after a few days (not even a full week) I got quickly TIRED OF IT. Something felt different about the game but I wasn't able to see or say why. You, luckily, said all the stuff I wanted to say but this one catched my attention: *Some units were useless, some cookies were overpowered and took a long time to nerf and the trouble with the prices in the shop.* I am a free-to-play person, and when I saw the prices in the gacha, my wig flew off. And later, when I kept on playing with boredom in my shoulders, I noticed how the gameplay became more and more tedious somehow. It was AWFULLY slow in story, and some levels were impossible! Some of the mythic units were a PAIN in the butt to get and some of them weren't even that good! *The PvP system...* I can't say much since I played it myself and won every single round but- I felt bad for the other players, not gonna lie. Some of them were long-time players with a trashy unit overpowered by mine. I noticed how that system was a complete mess and how the game didn't had the same amount of love and effort as Cookie Run. Although I have a problem with Ovenbreak too, but it's not as BIG as Cookie Wars. *And the worst of all:* They had a pretty awesome idea, but it was poorly executed. The premiere of the story was cool, but what became of it? The story, compared in game, I felt it... lazy. And it was just us persuading Dr. Wasabi again and again? I guess that's why many people (myself included) gave up on Story Mode. *But not everything is bad:* The exclusive introduced designs are good! *For example:* Look at Mangosteen Ocelot or Forest Queen Fairy Cookie! They're adorable. The CG's were magnificent and the music was FIRE, I downloaded some of it back then. *In short: Cookie Wars was a good idea, poorly done.* It was fated to die the moment it was released, and it went down that way. To whoever made this game: Please order your game ideas correctly so the players won't be annoyed with it.

There was some things I liked from the game like design, some skin designs that has potential, the new characters like Energy Drink Cookie and their pet, the comeback of older cookies that we miss on Ovenbreak, ... God I was an awful sucker for the Mythic design of Knight and young Jujube. The game had potential, but it was just awfully developed and executed it killed very fast my passion to play it, and the only reason I endures playing it because I have a friend that actually liked it so I played with her, but she had the same ideas that the game could have been better... I would loved to see that Devsis would have found a way to save the game... And now I just wish that we could have the chance to get all the costumes designs, characters and maybe an event based on the zombification thing for Ovenbreak. Honestly, this poor game deserved better...

I agree with mole tbh, not just with what he said but on my pov, CW was kinda tiring to play and just to complete everything because they're telling me that "I need to get this to continue thiiiiisssss" and it was really frustrating so I uninstalled it and never dowloaded it again. T3T

Yeah, it's probably was the lack of player-and-developer interaction. If there was more of that, I know for sure the game would've gone better, but sadly, that isn't the case. But who knows? Maybe they'll be able to recycle this idea into a later game or updates for other games. If CookieWars has even a chance of a possible reboot, I'd say, "Learn from the mistakes last time and make something better." But if there isn't, I just hope to see the stuff from CookieWars be moved to the still-living games.

Honestly, I never played the game, but I wish they brought it back but only for a few changes to the game, and not money hungry. also if they add voice acting in this, I'd be happy. But who knows if its coming back.

(My opinion) I haven’t played Cookie Wars in a long time. Before I used to play it (almost) 24/7. But now, I kinda forgot what part of the game pleased me.

The plight of _Cookie Wars_ had much in common, even if superficially, with that of _Spore._ Both were much anticipated for some time only to land far below the expectations set before release. The two also feel, to me at least, nigh irreplaceable in terms of the content offered; I'll never find a game, let alone a mobile title specifically, with such fine visual and auditory presentation as seen in _Cookie Wars._ I really do hope this one gets the same treatment as _Club Penguin_ and gets a fanmade re-creation, but I'd give it a few months before then. -Between you lot and me, though, I blame the sale of pangolins for this.-

(Sorry if my comment is a mess but i just really want to vent about this game) (I really loved this game, it pulled me in because it looked a lot like clash royale but with cuter characters. If this game never existed I would never have gotten into the cookie run fandom and met so many cool people) (Okay enough sentimental talk, lets get real here, the balancing was whack, the leveling system is painfully grindy, and donuts were a mistake) (Mythics were whack, some where really cool, like tiger lily with her unique knockback mechanic, but I hated how most of the mythics were just direct upgrades, like whats the point of having cinnamon cookie existing when bunny boy cinnamon exists?) (Really hated how unit rarities were divided to even more ranks, like the idea of a "S+ Mythic" is just dumb to me, there shouldnt be a further division to rarities) (I think a lack of consistency is was a big factor as to why this game sucked, like, theres W A Y to many levels for a unit to have, this would cause problems in pvp where you would never know the outcome of an interaction between units) (I think there was to much content available upon release because with that much untested content youre setting yourself up for a game thats seemingly impossible to balance) (You ever had that moment in a pvp match where 80% of the map was filled with jelly frogs? :) ) (And speaking of 80% frog on the screen, basically all of the game modes madr it so that filling the screen with units was common place) (I loved the customization options with teams, the combination of cookies, pets, and treasures are really cool beacause that sets you up for a nearly infinite number of strategies. But in pvp strategy dosent even matter because the winner is always the person who has the higher level cookies. As a person who loves strategy in video games, this hurts me, like imagine taking the time to form a cool team, only for you to be completely sat on by a person with 8 max level mythics) (Donuts can burn in heck) (And those are my thoughts about this game, overall this game had really cool concepts but failed to execute it properly beacuse of poor planning) (I really want the devs to give this game another chance, this time with better planning and less content upon global release, like 40 units maybe) (Cookie wars, you sucked, but I love you, Ill miss you)

It happens... Since CROB got Millennial Tree cookie, people instantly jumped back in CROB. Because of new contents kept coming in OvenBreak, Cookie Wars simply failed. PVP is bad for obvious reasons. Lots of gems to spend on better units and sooo on.

Wow, I haven't been on that game for awhile. And before I thought it was kinda bad when it was out, then thinking it'll get better later. But now it somehow went allll downhill, it's sad really, I liked the game for little bit but i got to the part i was pretty much fighting gods.
