Great video. Very peaceful. I would love to see a closer look at your fireplace cooking set up. I use the restarting of my charewood all the time and it works great.
Man, I have been watching a lot of your videos. I'm totally jealous of your cabin. That fireplace is the bee's knees. I would love to live like that. I hit the subscribe button. Really enjoying the videos.
I did build the fireplace myself. I didn’t install a firebrick firebox at all. It was good enough for them in the 1800s it’s good enough for me. 100% safe I might add
You are awesome, I am 60 and when I grow up and calm down this is what I want my life to be like. Thank you som much for all your hard work with these videos.👍
That’s why I teach my kids don’t have kids and then you can enjoy life unless you’re extremely rich but it’s rush rush rush rush from 430 till midnight every single day can’t wait to slow down
I think it would be a cool thing for you to dress the 1800 style part for matching into the time period of the cabin era. need some bucks skins moccasins and linen shirts, Look it all up in the "Track of the wolf" site or Dixie Gun works, many other sites sell period clothing..
Man if I lived here I would make my soup or chilli all day over that fire. Just to smell and taste all day. Then make lunch and breakfast over it as well 😋
Nice but no one can see you cook your food your cam was too far away even though you have a wonderful place I would love to visit and where was this video I know it's somewhere in the east soon I'll be visiting Mass soon next month
Hey about time for me to turn in😌,I just watched your delicious breakfast, and I thought my dad and me were the only one's that cut our bacon 🥓, cute video yummy,I don't watch much TV just news sometimes, I've been enterduced to you,,and,,,my daughter just sent me this info for an app called THE CHOSEN, I watched the first episode I love my JESUS ok well till next time 💪👍🙏🏻
I am designing a fireplace similar to yours for my cabin build in NW Montana... Like you, I'll have a stove for heat but I want to build the fireplace mainly for cooking. I'm thinking of building it a few feet higher to save the knees and back over time so I can enjoy it even into my later years, maybe build in a few stone outcroppings/perches at different levels for sitting and or setting pots, skillets or prepped food on. The only reason I can think of to have a cooking fireplace all the way on the ground is if someone was using it for heat but since it's mainly for cooking and ambience, it only makes sense to me to bring the fireplace up to my level. Thanks so much for the video, lots of great options for in your fireplace, awesome build! Good to see I'm not the alone, sometimes it feels like I'm the only one that thinks of a fireplace in the house is for cooking.
Hi Jerry. How much does your favorite skillet weigh? Its a beauty! Folks should appreciate your fireside cooking. It is an art. I don't get to watch the fire when using my kitchen wood stove. My hat's off to the women back then! ~ Diane
They did put off some heat but not like we think today. It might be warm in front of the fireplace but the further away you got the closer to outside temperatures it would be.
Typically fire places that are designed to radiate heat out into the living spaces of a home have angled walls that allow the heat to flow outward instead of up the flue. Of course, this has its downsides as it’s more likely for sparks to float through the air into your living space as well. I’m just a student, tho. Haven’t built any of my own appliances like some of these dudes. Absolutely metal if ya ask me.
i cook spuds for breakfast the night before and let them cool off overnight on the countertop. the peels come right off, i like the peels but i'm the only one that does. anyway, they go through the cheese grater really nice and then brown up in 5 min. i think i can cook spuds in the fireplace, i'll give it a whirl
I don’t have all these Conveniences when I’m cooking in the mountains haha, cool man, I’m just messing with ya, me and my buddy cook meals in the woods I got stuff on my channel too
You’re videos are fantastic, like snapshots of a bygone era .. The hardships the pioneers faced on the Oregon trail were unimaginable. You honour them with your work. Great job friend ..
