#Chekdermeh is a traditional Turkmen dish that is more than a thousand years old and is made by cooking rice, meat (usually lamb), tomato paste or tomato and onion together with oil, water and additives such as salt and pepper. This dish is somewhat similar to Stamboli Pilau. This dish is traditionally prepared in a kind of cast iron pot called kazan. First, small pieces of meat are fried in oil, then grated onion is added to it, and after the onion is fried, tomato paste or tomato is added to it. Then water is added to boil the meat, after some of the water evaporates, rice is added, so that the water is a fingertip above the rice, then the heat is reduced until the rice is cooked.
