I picked up a copy on release date in Australia at EB Games. Got there at like, 4:30pm, right before closing. The guy was like 'Wow you got the last copy!' and we had a bit of a chat. I mentioned how I was surprised it sold out considering there were not many people going to stores and he told me that they were only sent FIVE copies?? Five copies for the release date of a pretty big game. Same went for all other stores. It's out of stock in most EB's, but some have low stock. Same goes for Jb Hi-fi. It's so weird. I don't know what to think.
It sounds like they didn’t want a lot of people to have them. On twitter right now it’s trending and people are saying that the games use your console to mine crypto
Same here. The company I work for had 0 advertising about cooking mama, and on release I was the only person to pre order/buy a copy at our store. Now we arent selling any more copies since it has been removed. Super strange
Ok so as I’m writing this it’s 5 days from when it’s suppose to release, and at this point this is what I know. First, I checked and on Nintendo’s website on their list of upcoming switch games, cooking mama cookstar isn’t there. Secondly, that Nintendo direct mini just happened and despite this being a great way to promote the game officially since it hasn’t been yet, but nothing. Lastly GameStop listed the developers/publishers as COKeM International LTD.
Hello! I wanna point out that Planet Entertainment was originally founded as a subsidiary of Steve Grossman's company, ePartners LLC, who were also the parent company of XS Games, a publisher of PSone, PS2 and Wii games between 2001 and 2011. In fact, most of Planet Entertainment's library is ports from that back catalogue of Wii titles. The name change from ePartners to Planet Digital Partners happened some time last year. Steve's LinkedIn was updated accordingly, going from "ePartners 2001-present" to "Planet Entertainment 2001-present". Other members of the company like Joe McHale have been a little slow to update theirs. I uncovered a lot of weird stuff when producing my own documentary on Console Classics, which was a similarly enigmatic publisher to Planet Entertainment that also mainly dealt in re-releases of old XS Games software, that also had a website with zero information about the company on their website and virtually nonexistent PR. Coincidence!? Well I don't have any concrete evidence but I'm sure you know what I'm thinking. There's definitely a lot of weird stuff going on. Shoot me an email if you wanna chat more about this, because I've been heavily investigating the Cooking Mama situation too.
I was about to pooh pooh you for neglecting to check the wayback machine for the 2018 version of their website BUT THE INTERNET ARCHIVE NEVER CRAWLED THAT SITE. They only have a copy today because I just clicked the button. I have unwittingly become part of the conspiracy.
wow. holy shit. this is a super well edited video for such a tiny channel. earned a sub, my guy. also, why do i feel... creeped out by this? this shouldn't be creepy.
@@PurplePocketPirate There are reports of it making the system run hot, which _appears_ to just be poor optimization, and it's possible the game was just pulled from the store for nebulous licensing issues. twitter.com/Toadsanime/status/1246918900526219265?s=20 Best I can figure is that the publishers were _trying_ to push for this to be included but ultimately gave up on it. Now there's just the question of _who_ is actually publishing or developing or distributing it.
@Chance because there's a finite number of coins that can be mined in bitcoin and the more get mined, it gets progressively harder to make a money off it. People have entire rooms filled with computers not because that's the computing power "required" to mine bitcoin, but because it gets financial returns faster. Even a raspberry pi can mine bitcoin, you're just not gonna make money off it. No, crypto isn't useless because it can be solved by pen and paper. The problem is that the pen and paper method would require trillions of years before you could earn a dollar. The point here is that the crypto doesn't require immense processing power to solve, it can be done manually. But a computer, even a shitty one, is massively faster at computing things than a human can do manually. A shitty computer won't get you very far in mining. But if you can take over thousands of computers and force them to mine for you, that's a different ball game.
We need to get this viral most of the gaming community doesn’t even know about planet I feel like everyone would freak out if they knew about this development team!
The development team was actually a group called 1st Playable Productions, which I learned more recently. I'll finish the whole thing off in part 3 real soon!
I stumbled upon this 3 weeks after buying the only copy available in my local target. I only paid $20 and it was the only copy they got. Game has played fine... than I stumbled upon these videos and am shook I even got a copy at all.
This is funny for me because I didn't even know that cooking mama cookstar was a thing and that I didn't even see any advertisements or anything like that from Nintendo considering I'm a cooking mama fan, rip cookstar.
Great video. Only weird thing about the 31st release date is that it's a Tuesday, which makes sense for Sony games (e.g persona 5 royal is out on the 31st) but most nintendo things are out on Friday. My brain hurts.
This is crazy. I believed this "leak" cause my local EB Games (Canadian Gamestop) allowed me to pre-order it for a March 30th release.... Kinda glad I never got it due to quarantine given the news about it now-
Just checked the website and it is now up and running, looks like a normal video game website. This has to be the weirdest gaming news story I've ever experienced.
I don't know how I forgot all about the Cooking Mama blockchain stuff. Can't remember where I actually saw it covered though? It seemed like a bunch of bull cooked up to get investors and then maybe just be a fancy DRM for a mobile game. If this stuff will actually be in the Switch game though that will certainly be interesting to see how it's received.
Purple Pocket Pirate Good luck out there! I wish I could do more, but damn I hope you get big. The fact that you replied so quickly is a testament to your craft.
Is being on the Gamestop website necessarily confirmation? Because it STILL isn't listed anywhere else. I could see a situation where, based on the trailer, someone at Gamestop decided to put up a placeholder listing for Cookstar, without actually getting the news from Nintendo. That there is still no update from Nintendo is very suspicious to me. We're now almost two weeks into March. The idea that this is a well-done fan trailer doesn't seem that crazy. Or perhaps it WAS a trailer from Nintendo that had March 2020 as a placeholder date, but they then realized wouldn't be able to make that date, so they decided not to release the trailer. Somehow Nedgame got a hold of the trailer and released it anyway.
I've actually seen multiple different listed release dates on different websites since the video went up. I'm trying to keep track of things on my Twitter, of you wanna check out what's happening over there.
I might be going crazy. But as someone who had the first two generations of DS, I could have sworn I’ve seen that logo on games before. So we are taking about 2006
It’s on US Amazon. It’s a “sponsored” listing, published by Planet Entertainment and sold by seller Your Cooking Mama. I just placed an order, so we’ll hopefully see soon if it’s real.
@@shibbyguy101 You're doing God's work sir. Like actually, I'd you do get an answer or the copy gets shipped, would you mind updating me on it? Maybe share a photo on Twitter even? I'd really appreciate it.
Of course. It’s definitely odd how there has been little to no promotion or even acknowledgement of Cookstar from any official Cooking Mama or Office Create social media pages.
@@shibbyguy101 I plan on doing some sort of follow-up on this whole thing whenever the game actually comes out. One way or another, we will have answers eventually.
@@omegaotaku1342 I like that you actually recognized it! Most people didn't catch that. There will be more SpongeBob music in the next part as well, believe me.
