When I was about 10yrs old(a long time ago) my relatives lived in St.Pete's Florida. Back then we used to go by turkey necks time them on butcher twine and throw them into the waters of the intercoastal. As soon as they hit bottom a crab would start to walk away with it. We would pull the string up slowly and had a shallow scoop net on a long pole. As soon as we saw them we would scoop them up. It was nothing to catch 50 crabs. I'm pretty sure they were those crabs in this video. They were tasty! You brought back a memory from long ago.Thanks!

I wanna say about 4-5 years ago, I was fishing at skyway pier at night and reeled one of these up. There wasn't much light on the pier but I could tell it was one ugly looking crab so i got it off my line and threw it back asap. I now know that was probably a mistake. 😌

Hanging out with Blue Gabe and Shara and Nick has opened you up to a different culinary world. Eat some frog legs with Gabe. Giggin for frogs at night on the flats boat would be fun to see with you laughing through the whole thing. They hop out of the pan sometimes when you cook them too.🐸

Always pull the joints apart at a sharp angle before you crack it, that pulls the connecting tissues out and leaves the meat, makes it a lot easier to get it out in once piece.

I like your friend’s kitchen appliances Kelly. Viking and Kitchen Aid are the shit! Yeah that spider crab looks delish! The best part of any crab is the base of each leg joint. A lot of meat and it’s the tastiest!

Add some white vinager to the boiling water . Supposed to keep meat from sticking to shell.

Put some vinegar in the water when you boil your crab and it helps the meat separate from the shell. But that looks good.

To open the body easier you take off the apron of the crab (the flap in the bottom) and there will be a cavity and you just stick your fingers in and open it really easy, also in I’m pretty sure all crabs, there is sometimes meat on like the top half shell and then in the body, theres usually like lots of meat in the hard part you just need to take off all the legs and crack the body in half and stuff and theres lots of meat and if you wanna take out the shells you can use a black light

use a tablespoon of white vinegar in the water when cooking the crab and the meat will come out of the shell easier, thats how we do it with mud crabs in Australia

Kelly You have to put vinegar when boiling youre crab.. It prevents the meat from sticking to the shell.

These crabs are the most eaten crabs in France, and they are not cheap. In France they eat the liver in the body, it's kind of mustard looking but tastes good. It's all about the claws and the legs. In France they are twice the size, but it's the same crab.

hi Kelly there never is much meat in these but before cooking,if you cut the crab in half. take off its gills also known as dead mans fingers then cut the crab in half wash out all its guts ect you get lots meat all around the leg joints. hope this helps

try a nut cracker they work well,also if you put your shellfish in cold water after cooking they will release the meat easier

Good job on fixin' the crab! Glad you had a big pot to cook it in. I've caught a lot of Blue & Stone crabs, but, this is the first time I've seen on of these...WOW! I, like you, use a butter knife to "whack" the crab & it works well for me! When it's all ya got, you use it, eh? Can't wait for your next video! Keep on keepin on Kelly! We love ya! 🥰 ❤

Read the list of ingredients on the canister of parmigiana cheese, can have up to 6% cellulose. That’s basically wood or saw dust. It perfectly fine, it’s used to keep the cheese from clumping. For a very special recipe always use freshly grated.As always enjoyed your videos, thank you.👍

kelly to pull the crab apart.... there is a key like tab on the bottom, pull that off first, then pry it apart from the bottom side. pull the gills off and underneath them there is some meat but you have to pick it out like you would on the legs....

Use white vinegar with the water when you boil crabs. The meat will come out easier.

Down on the Texas coast we used to get them rite off the boat before it docked. Same with shrimp. I could eat shrimp and crab all day. Excellent video

Next time do what I do with spanner crabs in Australia. Pull the shell off them and cut them in half grab them by the legs and claw and give them a good shake and all the guts will come out give them a quick hose and in the pot of boiling salty water. We get a 20 litre drum of sea water to cook them in best way by far.

Treat those crabs just like blue crabs. Keep alive until cooked, remove the gills/lungs, break them in half and season your water first with cajun seasoning or That seasoning you used in the butter. Get Jacki Shea's Cajun Butter recipe and use that on them. Looks tasty.

I know if you're looking for more information on what I've always heard as the spider crabs it is on a channel that I watch that's called smash fishing the guy is funny + very light-hearted and very knowledgeable Englishmen. He reminds me of the English version of Blue Gabe or deer meat for dinner. It would be great to see you guys collaborate but I don't know if that would ever happen.

Used to catch those all the time on the Caribbean side of 🇵🇦. Males got Yuge. Females we let go. We would pick them clean and make crab cakes galor. Or boil them up. Always had them with Lobster.

@@deesuydam8838 Sure they do. They are not easily found in FL waters. Bahamian, they are all over the place. Like their lobster counter parts. Never understood why more people did not eat these. They are delicious. Never seen one crawl into a trap. They eat soft corals.

@@MetalDetectingwithCZkidd it looked like the crabs that my cousins husband brought back from spearfishing and scalloping i filled up 2 5 gallon buckets 32 years ago after I go used to (not scared of) all the fish swimming around in the water lol. we were in the St Josephs Bay in port st joe florida. they told me that they were poisonous if you don't know how to clean them. but we at flounder scallops and mullet (very Good not a trash fish) blue spider crab. Of course after that summer life happenend and I didnt get to go back until this past July and he is dead and buried

Next time you cook them. Try to keep them alive until the time your ready to cook. Clean them first take all the liquid & junk out of them remove the lungs split them in half season them and then cook them. If you catch a few more. Make some crab patties. We make them there great.. 😉✌️
