While camping in the Ocala National Forest for Thanksgiving weekend, I try out my refurbished 413D Coleman stove that was made between 1950 and 1953. I hope you enjoy it.

Awesome! Watched the 1st video and had to watch the second. Great restoration. I’m restoring a 1948-53 2nd series 425.

I’m still amazed at how clean the stove came out after you refurbished it. I didn’t know that Coleman had a folding oven. Of course, the food looked delicious 🤤 Good stuff, John. 👏👏👏👏

I was a little surprised myself how it cleaned up. It’s definitely a piece I’m proud of. If you can get your hands on one of those ovens you won’t regret it. I have made many, many, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, cornbreads, baked potatoes and other stuff over the years. It was a great investment. Thanks for watching and for your comment! See you next time.

I have 4 of them damn stoves! Two gas 2 burners, one 3 burner gas and one 3 burner propane. I paid $10 for 2 burners, $20 for the 3 burner propane and was gifted the the other from and old classmate that was her dad's. I didn't need any of them! But I couldn't pass up the price. I got one of the ovens awhile back on close out from Walmart for $20. I haven't used it. I do have 2 small bun warmer plates. Somewhere, I saw to add them to the oven to help retain heat. You did a great job restoring your stove. I haven't seen too many with the copper tank.

I also have three and two burner propane stoves too. And now recently two model 413 gas stoves and a 402 single burner gas stove. I know how you feel. My problem is I like them all! You will like that oven. It works well after you get the hang of it. On mine I found that I have to bake at about 250 degrees according to the temp gauge on the oven. I think my gauge is a little off so just in case on yours, start lower on yours so you don’t burn whatever you’re making. Thanks for watching another video. It was great to hear from you! See you next time.

I've been camping all my life and I've never seen the like of that oven. What a genius idea. Those ribs looked deicious. Also it looks like you have a good going vegetable plot there. I guess Florida weather allows for more than just one crop a year in the same spot. In Scotland's veg gardens every minute of sunshine is precious. Thanks for posting.

That oven is a great piece of kit. You can bake almost anything in it at camp. Yes, my Florida garden produces almost year around. It does slow down for some types of plants as the winter comes on because the sun gets so low on the horizon and my garden is on the North side so my property. Actually, in the middle of the summer it’s so scorching hot that most plants don’t do well without some shade. Thanks for stopping by again and for watching my video. I hope you and your family are doing well. Catch you next time!

Love me some greens, and chili, and cornbread!!!! Stove looks a little better with some battle scars! 🤣😂🤣. Very nice of Ron to hook you up. We used to camp at Salt Springs Campground when we lived in Florida. I remember the main spring had a rock wall and paved walk around it. It was so clear and we could see hundreds of fish... no fishing there though! Is all that still there?

It was a great camp with family and friends. One of our party even got a 7 point. Salt Springs is still there pretty much as you describe. It is still very popular with lots of fish (largemouth bass, mullet, panfish, etc) and even blue crabs! I saw a kid once dive down into the spring and come up with one. I have been on the run from the springs out the Lake George several times to fish and even camped on the bank once overnight. I made a fishing video once a while back on it with my kayak. The campground and spring is now ran by a third party contracted by the Forestry Dept. It’s hard to get a site there because it’s so popular which is why I don’t stay there anymore. On the opposite side from the campground and spring on the run is the Salt Springs Marina. That is where we get the water. There is a pipe that was run from the spring over to the marina to the left of the boat ramp that flows water 24 hrs a day. That is where we fill our bottles for camp. It’s used a lot by some of the locals. That water makes a great cup of coffee in my opinion and is part of the Ocala experience for me. I’m glad you enjoyed the video and the stove. When I fix that valve, it will go with me anytime I’m car camping. Thanks for stopping by. Keep your videos coming because they are enjoyable!

Stove looks good! Really like how you show how you were using it for each meal. Showing how to use the oven was a nice touch too. God bless!!!

Thanks Ron! I’m pretty proud of that stove. Everyone that sees it thinks it’s so cool. I think I might do another video with that oven and stove because it seems to be very popular. I was thinking most camping people would already have one. But some have commented that they have never seen one before. I’m thinking about making sweet or regular potatoes in it and maybe some canned cinnamon rolls for a video. I have baked both types of potatoes in it many times and they turn out great. Thanks again for everything! I pray you and your family stay well and blessed and enjoy Christmas. God bless you my brother!

Nice restore on that one and great cooking footage. It's completely normal for those valve packings to leak and need adjustment. You shouldn't need to replace them if they seal with a little turn of a wrench, but I don't know how hard it was to turn. Sucks that it ruined the paint job. But packings are made to be tightened as needed. I did notice you had a leak at the gas tip/mixing chamber. There was some yellow flame at 7:53 when you started cutting onions. Again, it's not unusual after are refurb to tune them up after the first burn either. When I was refurbishing a lot of these stoves and lanterns years ago, I ran across Key Graphite Paste. Perfect for sealing stuff that gets really hot like generator tips.

i have that exact same stove and i sand blasted it to fully clean it and get the little bit of rust off it. it wasnt in bad shape but it wasnt all that good either. and it works like a dream. my only problem is im not sure what generator to get because i cant find one for the 413 d stoves . im told the generator for the 3 burner stove will work like a 425 b,c,d model. anyways, i think these are the best 2 burner stoves . they are bigger than the 425 but smaller than the 3 burner so you can use a bigger skillet on it. also mine was missing one of the slide out legs and a man named shane , blind dog blades sent me one that he had gotten and he was kind enough to send it to me and i did send him a few dollars for his time . but he hasnt been on here in a few years now. i hope he is ok. these stoves and lanterns also come in handy when the power goes out for a few days or in some kind of emergency. and by the way. coffee on a coleman is the best

These stoves are known to work in temps which make butane and propane not work . Cold temps that is where they have an advantage because of their design .

Beautiful stove! I’ve found that the flame will pull away from the burner like that if I put too much pressure in the tank.

Really enjoyed this video. Great job on the restoration of the stove I haven't tried it yet but there say there's a clear coat rattle can made for automotive finish that will stand up to the fuel spills but I can't remember the brand. Thanks for sharing and God bless.

My father had one of those folding Coleman ovens in the 60s when I was a kid. I am going to have to get on the bay and find myself one now, aren't I? :) I like to put just a tad of sugar into my greens, and serve them with a splash of chili vinegar.

I don’t believe you will regret getting one of those ovens. It’s also very handy when the power goes out! I had some Texas Pete pepper sauce on the table when I was making the greens. It’s a “must have” for me when it comes to greens. It’s probably similar to what you use as it’s a vinegar based sauce. Thanks for watching another one and for your comment. We will see you next time!

You'll need a high-heat spray paint, i believe rustoleum makes one. We used it on the stove in our camper and it worked well!

@@donjohnson3873 It’s a huge tank. I’m not sure how long it will burn, but it’s a long time between fills.
