LOVE it!! "this is a line cutter, not a bottle opener... not sure what this is, gotta read the book"😃 I have been binge watching your vids over the last week in these winter months, Tanks a ton, Alec. Love from Lake Tahoe

Hello from the quiet frosty colorful Ozarks Alex! Hope your well and enjoying your day! I use the EEzycut Trailobite line cutter here in the Ozarks lakes cause of fishing lines and netting. fortunetly the clear water helps to see hazards. Tight lines and bent poles!

Hi Alec. Being right handed I have always mounted my knife on my upper left arm, I guess if Jaws bites off my right arm I am toast! I seem to remember a story of you cutting your hand with a big knife and some fishing net? The scissors or the easy-cut are safer options now, Under water barber? it could be a new thing, take care Owen m

For recreational diving I have carried the ScubaPro White Tip Knife on a regulator hose for about five years. It’s a great product! After 30+ years of diving, I discontinued carrying a large pointed knife strapped to my lower leg. Tradition makes it tough to change! The only time I carry a large pointed knife is when spear fishing (when the knife is needed to dispatch wounded prey).
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter

Good idea to keep the big knife for hunting. I grew up when if you had been diving 5 years, you had a 5" knife, 10 years a 10" knife!! A

Exactly such a small knife I always have attached to my inflator bcd hose. Best place to me. Always handy

Small knives are very useful but i do miss my 10", 3 pound dive knife. I had to adjust my weight belt to compensate for its weight. A

I was happy when you said the EEZYCUT Trailobite Line Cutters were a good choice. I recently went out and bought one and attached it to my BC but thinking what a wimpy cutter, real men carry big dive knives! 😂 I feel better now! (Truth is the type of diving I do I have never come across any kind of line that needed to be cut)Thanks Alex, you made my day. By the way heading to Bonaire next week for our annual week of diving.

Loved diving Bonaire (from a boat). The walking was OK when young but not anymore. Safe diving and show off your Eezycut. A

Backplates have industry standard of 11 inches betwixt holes. Most newer BC's have grommeted holes, on side/weight pocket, to affix their knife sheaths with screw/nut combo. Is this span also an industry standard? For example will a Scubapro White Tip, fit an Aqualung Axiom's hole pattern without modification?
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter 10 месяцев назад
I'm not sure about the spacing across brands. I know that Scubapro knifes fit the grommet holes on their BC's so no cutting needed. Maybe an idea for a future video. A

I have it the other way. I have a Aqualung knife attached to a Scubapro BCD. The holes line up perfectly.

Alec, I was thinking again (sorry)... Imagine where you would be today had you imprinted on Ripcord or Whirlybird instead of Sea Hunt! Or Have Gun Will Travel - you could have been an armed Canadian vigilante your whole life! You might have been putting out assassination videos on RU-vid instead of SCUBA shows all this time! How aboot that, eh? Good thing Sea Hunt came along - Lloyd Bridges probably saved your life. Tanks again guys. Another good show. I still have my old monster USD 1/4" thick stainless steel leg knife from 1972 (or so). That thing never did hold an edge. When I stopped carrying that thing, I had to add more lead to my weight belt. ;) I think USD made that thing to use as an emergency can opener for downed submarines or something. Sea Hunt forever - and ever!

I thought being Mike Nelson's sidekick would be cool. Great diving, big knife, u/w fights, maybe get a girl at the end of a show! Nothing else ever crossed my mind but Sea Hunt. Good question for other divers. A

I Like the idea of strapping a knife to a thigh. It would be easier to reach. But my Thighs are too big for the straps. I also have a Tusa BC Knife with hose mount. I'm thinking about a retractable mount on the left shoulder ring
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter 10 месяцев назад
If you have big thighs like Kevin, try long belts or custom sew some straps. Be comfortable and have fun. A

@@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter I can swim 4 Miles and Tread Water for an Hour. DO that when I can at the County College Pool when allowed.

You can thread through two lenghts of some marine bungee cord of sufficient length (or non-marine, just keep an eye on it more for degradation) and thread that through the sheath, then use a double fisherman's knot which enables you to loosen and tighten to suit your thigh. Benefit of this over straps is that the bungee can stay tighter over a wetsuit when at depth, whilst non-elasticated straps may become loose.

Which do you recommend for places like Cozumel where typical knives are banned? Probably the trilobite?
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter 10 месяцев назад
I found shears and trilobite's are fully accepted. Nothing wth an exposed edge is allowed (but not enforced much). A

i personally carry trilobite with me on every dive. i've yet to see a diver with a 10" rambo knife though :))

Hi Alec, I love your content!!! What brand of knife was the yellow handled knife? Which brand would you recommend for someone trying to buy that old school 10” style knife? Thanks!
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter 10 месяцев назад
For big knives, anything made today will last a long time. Also consider a vintage knife but check the scabbard still locks it tight. The yellow knife is called a Wettie ‘Victory’ Dive Knife $62.00 CAD. A
